If you keep Fields you will get a chance to move down from one to two or three via possible trades with New England or Washington, but you must not move down too far because you need to get MHJ if you keep Fields to give him a dude with a huge catch radius that can go up and get all the errant throws from Fields.

You really could trade down twice, from one to two and then again from two to three if you can get one of the teams to pony up picks to make sure they get one of the top QB's.

If you are moving on from Fields you are obviously taking the top QB on your board and hoping to get the second best WR with your second first round pick and hope to get a second for Fields that you turn into a center.

Despite 670 propaganda this morning and probably all day today, the Bears aren’t keeping Fields because he sucks. Love will outplay Fields in Green Bay Sunday and the Bears will be able to keep their own draft pick in the #8 to #10 range. I’d be ecstatic to draft Williams #1 and then Alabama DE Dallas Turner at #8, #9, or #10. They can spend the cash to sign Mike Evans, Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Michael Pittman, etc.

At this point Eberflus and Fields are a package deal. (Keep them both and trade down to 2 or 3 and take MHJ) or (fire Eberflus, trade Fields, and take the QB the new coach wants at 1).

If they beat GB and knock GB out of the playoffs, I think they will keep Eberflus and Fields and see if they can improve next year even against a more difficult schedule.

There are no reasonable reasons to keep Fields. There are few reasons to keep Eberflus. There are zero reasons to keep Getsy.

Draft MHJ #1, draft Penix with whatever the next pick ends u being in the 1st round, trade kid and play for a 2nd or 3rd rounder and then unload the bank account on offensive line and a vet for the secondary while keeping the coaching staff intact That seems like a pretty damn good team. Penix throwing seeds to Moore and Harrison with Mooney as the 3rd option.....that will play.

Penix is certainly an intriguing prospect. He sees the field better than Fields, throws the deep ball at least as well as Fields, and is better on short routes. His body may also be held together with glue and popsicle sticks.

Several of his throws last night are picks in the NFL, but all the college dudes will face a steep learning curve when they reach the NFL.

Caller Bob could throw for 4,000 yards with the running game you already have if you draft MHJ and shore up the center position, you almost QB proof the roster if you add a guy like MHJ.

The Bobster is not exactly a threat in the running game, so you would become a pocket passing team, and he's a bit frail so you have to get the ball out quickly to avoid him taking any type of hit, but I can already see him drawing up plays in the dirt, telling MHJ just to run to a spot and the Bobinator chucking a wounded duck up that MHJ snags out of the air between four defenders.

See a minimum 8-peat with that lineup.

i dont think it matters but it seems like fields will be playing for about $50 mil next week. if he loses to gb he wont be getting an offer and his trade value will drop.

Depending on what Minnesota does at QB, Fields will either be the worst or second-to-worst QB in the division if the Bears bring him back next year. That's not good enough.

Williams is supposedly plummeting, but you have two QB desperate franchises in Washington and New England that would give you a king's ransom to move up, and you know that someone loves Penix, Nix, or Daniels, so you will have a chance to move down multiple times and gain tons of draft capital if you are smart.

If you are keeping Fields you could trade down to #3 and still get MHJ, and then trade you second first to a QB seeking team and still get a starting level player in the middle of the first round, these moves likely pick you up multiple first and second round picks for several years.

Not sure what the cost would be to move up from #2 to #1, but you have to at least think about that move if it will give you a pick at the top of the second round, there are several interesting WR and center prospects that should be there early in the second and would likely start for you next year because you do not have an NFL starting level center on your roster and your WR is basically Moore and a bunch of #4/#5 WR's, you really need a #2 and #3 WR, preferably a bigger guy and a slot guy.

You already predicted he would make the Pro Bowl this season. He's going to finish with the 22nd or 23rd best QBR in the league. Why is there any reason to believe he'll be an All Pro next season?

Normal people: Fields is average to below average as a QB based on QBR and other advanced and conventional metrics.

Fields cult: Yeah but he is H1M!

Normal people: what? All I'm saying is the statistics paint a bleak picture of his overall production level 39 games into his career.

Fields cult: Yeah but he is Houdini!

I've been thinking about this. Maybe it's because now and then he makes a jaw dropping sensational play. If an anti-Fields guy like myself goes"WOW", imagine what a cultist is thinking.

Yeah, he gives everyone something to cling to. He probably makes a "WOW" play with his legs every game. You occasionally see some "WOW" throws that he makes downfield as well. There's a lot of suckage and mediocrity mixed in between those plays. Enough to make you avoid gambling on him when you have the top pick in a quarterback rich draft.

I agree with Nardi: People love him because he makes a few cool and one or two spectacular plays per game. The irony, though, is that he is forced to make those spectacular plays because he is unable to make easier plays that could have equal or greater impact. His apparent greatness, then, is a product of his incompetence.

he didnt just have the best game of his career though. there has been a dramatic improvement in his overall game after his injury. the way this team is built now, its go time. i think they should draft a qb with the #1, but also pay fields. he will have a much greater chance at making a playoff run than a rookie next year, and he will probably get hurt so we will get to see what we want anyway.

I do not believe that I predicted he would make the Pro Bowl this season. I do believe he will next year. With the likely additions of two very good receivers and upgrades to the offensive line (T and C) and the defensive line (DE and DT), this team will be the best team in the NLC and a Super Bowl contender.

You think way too much and do not trust your own eyes and common sense. Its actually funny. The first half of the year most of you people blamed Fields for things that were not under his control as in bad injuries to the O-line, wide outs, RBs, not to mention a terrible defensive line missing the entire front four. All the losses were so easily blamed on a single guy, Fields, because many of you couldn't or didn't want to think beyond your own nose. Just blame the Quarterback. You were so freeking obtuse that you made this into a simple FIX as in bringing in another QB and it would fix everything. Now I await the absolutely expected major re-writes of what you thought of Fields and expect others to buy your crap. What is your "new story" going to say?
