If Cease goes before the season, obviously everything changes. But that looks more and more unlikely as potential suitors fill their needs elsewhere. The Sox are asking for the moon and teams dropping out isn't going to raise the price.

I hope he's not traded. If he's traded for a bunch of minor leaguers, that means the team is committing itself to an additional three years of absolute shit baseball.

The difference between Cubs fans and Sox fans is stark. When Cub fans are projecting their team for the next season, they assume that a player's numbers will be equal to the player's best year. When Sox fans are doing the same for their team they assume the numbers will be equal to or worse than their worst.

Don't disagree with most of that except the Sox would need huge years from Kopech, Cease, Jimenez, Moncada, and Robert to even be a .500 team, not to mention having some fringe players play above their head.

if the plan is to catch the ball, somebody should tell Katz to have his pitchers attack the zone. When you lead the league in walks and your defense is also terrible, it not a surprise to lose 100.

OK, I'll change my prediction to just 100 losses.

I've never been this disinterested in the WhiteSox than I am now. Most of the time, even when i knew that they were bad there were some young guys who I would like to follow. This isn't the case now. I would say that this team that they are building right now wouldn't beat a good triple A team. Reinsdorf is a dickhead miser.

I’d agree.

LouBob is good. I’ll hold out hope for China doll Jimenez. Kopech, Cease, Crochet…idk, maybe they’ll have some stretches of competence.

Otherwise I’d expect this is a 5th place team depending on the Royals.

Seems like we should expect Cease to be traded anytime now for 2 or 3 prospects. I don't get why they wouldn't trade Roberts. This team is not interested in acting like a major league team. This off-season has been extremely odd with the players they have acquired and the results are going to be ugly on the field. This team isn't close to winning anything and is probably 2-3 years away with the way they are unwilling to spend money and have to hope again for the minor league system to rebuild quickly.

I think that Reinny is having a yard sale and will pair his corporation down and then sell it. The White Sox as a viable franchise died when Konerko gave him that baseball years ago.

Feels like JR is going the Cleveland Indians route from Major League. Make the team so bad no one cares when he moves it to Nashville for a shit ton of money.

You must not remember how everyone assumed Cease would just get better last year. Then he went out and gave up more runs than he had ever given up.

I don't see any way we are not the worst team in the league, other than maybe a nearly equally bad team plays in a better division

This is a throw away season and I will throw it away. Eat shit Reinsdorf.

He nibbled. It's basically the whole story of Cease's regression. He'll bounce back, no matter what team he's on.

I'm happy to hear that they're going to at least try Crochet as a starter.

That has to be assuming that Cease will be traded.

If he is in the rotation I dont think that will be the number

I have no idea what this White Sox team will be and as I said before, I'm not optimistic. If they trade Cease, they're obviously tanking the season. But I will point out that just two years ago Cease-Kopech-Crochet would have been considered a great young rotation and had fans very excited.

I've had my fill of throwers who can't pitch. Had my fill of glove wearers and bat swingers too. I'd be more accommodating to Getz if the owner hadn't lied about the whole thing.

My problem with Getz is that he supposedly hated last year's team, yet he was part of the group that assembled it in the first place. Was he pushing back against the decisions that were being made? Who knows? If he really disagreed so much I would think he would have quit or gotten fired.

Looks like the trade marked just opened. Maybe the Cubs can give the Sox some washed up minor leaguers for him.

Realistically his value is probably as high as it’ll get given the contract.

It may be worth a look at trading him.
