Are UNC quarterbacks any good. Who goes to UNC to play football (and is good) besides Julius peppers? Isn't UNC a backup school for football players who couldn't carve out playing time at better football schools?

Reich is a big Carson Wentz guy.
Wentz is a FA in 2024, need I say more?

I'm happy to let Reich join Wentz on the FA sidelines then in that case.

Dude totally talked to Harbaugh's agent or wife or gardener or barista or somebody. Harbaugh/Harbaugh's people probably told Poles if he wanted to hang on until after Jim worked through his 1 through 6 choices the Bears could be his possible safety-school.

There is no QBU. You judge each guy individually. MANY were just complaining about Ohio State last year and about the offense Mahomes played in. Carlson Palmer was the last and possibly only QB from USC that was worth anything.

An odd presser, they all seemed way too optimistic, as if the OC was the only problem on the team, sure sounds like they will go with Fields again next year.

It was a good move to keep George away from the podium, but Kevin Warren sounded like Kevin McKaskey, talked a lot, but said nothing, at the end of the day the franchise repeated the exact same mistake of keeping a coach round one too many seasons, did not really hear anyone explain how they would attract a top level OC with a lame duck HC, but the Bears are gonna be the Bears.

Your still gonna run the Cover-2, so you need to find a dominant 3 tech at some point, you almost need to overpay for Madubuike or Jones, do not see a college kid that could come in and play that position right away.

Real chance to upgrade your offense with a play making WR in the draft, it would be hard to screw that up given the resources you have and with the talent at the position in the draft.

Still need a starting center and it would be tempting to take one of the LT prospects if they slide to #9.

Too much negativity in the social media feedback loop. The Bears are on schedule. Everyone knew year two after a tear down is a transition year. Get to .500. How can you not be excited about this team?

- Defense took a huge step forward after Sweat trade. Will be top 10 defense next year
- You're going to have the most hyped QB prospect in years.
- Poles will be able to draft an elite player at 10 and really add some depth to this team, then fill in the missing pieces in free agency. Ala Detroit last year.

Why don't people see it? YOU STUPID SON OF BITCHES! ALL YOU CAN TALK ABOUT IS THE GOD DAMN COACH. THE TEAM IS ON THE UPSWING!

Did you want them to say "We suck and will always suck and our current starting QB sucks but at least he'll be gone"?

Of the three Bears representatives who addressed the media yesterday, Poles was the only one who sounded like he was the least bit grounded in reality.

Kevin Warren is evidently impressed with what he perceives to be his own profundity and doesn't seem to realize that he communicates entirely in platitudes.

Eberflus is simply overmatched.

Retaining Eberflus seems emotional. They probably felt for him given the DC scandal and appreciated him holding things together. But that just means they failed to hold him accountable for the mess in the first place.

Spiegel made the point that we should consider their personal relationships as part of this decision and Bernstein gave him the jerk off motion, which made Grimmace very emotional.

This sums up Kevin Warren perfectly.

Image

He has a whole wall of his own press clippings and other awards and he chose to deliver a very unpopular decision in front of it.

Warren said there weren't egos in the room. That's one of the few things he said that I believed. Only because his ego is so big that there wasn't room for another ego in the room.

What are the four different types of quarterbacks that Poles mentioned yesterday? Are they players in the draft or styles of play?

jer'zhan newton from illinois in this draft.

Dr. Ken or RR could have answered this question if they were still around. I hope I don't have to be the new board Illini expert.

Sometimes I get the feeling he is using this job as a platform to run for political office, but I think he likes nice things and would not accept the pay cut.

We should definitely consider the shared connection/subservience to Trace Armstrong as a factor in the decision to retain him.

If we go into next season and Fields is the named starter....Poles loses the ability to use the excuse that he didn't draft Fields. Add in the fact that one more year of Fields and he will be a FA. His trade value is a second round pick at best...it's only going to go lower. I truly believe Poles has to trade Fields this off-season.

Poles gets to hire one more head coach under his watch, so he is likely not in a hurry to move on from Eberflus. Firing the OC buys him and Eberflus one additional year. As fans we don't like it, but Poles is going to do his best to stay in his job for as many years as possible.
