Why is Herbert considered a better quarterback than Purdy? He's had an elite offense and a talented defense his entire career and he's repeatedly wet the bed. Purdy wins and rises above a coach who is shaky in big moments.

Physical traits only get you so far. We've seen that with Cutler and Fields. Purdy has that it factor that you can't coach. My mediocre whites often have the it gene that helps them overcome any physical limitations they may have. Herbert pisses himself regularly. I don't think Captain Comeback can change that.

The haters manage to nitpick every mistake, but all he does is rise above them and Shanahan's limitations in key moments.

If you finish the season #1 at QBR after 16-17 games you're doing something right.

One quarterback was picked last in the draft , puts up numbers , wins games , gets the ball out to where its supposed to go and people want to make every excuse as to why he’s great except give hime credit . another quarterback is late getting the ball out, turns it over constantly, shits the bed in big moments, loses most of his games, and everyone wants to make excuses for him as to why he isn’t great.

If Brock Purdy's the john freaking holmes of QB's, why's Shanahan keeping that cock holstered? Fewer attempts per game than Justin Fields and Tyson Bagent

QBR and passer rating are two different metrics. QBR is more comprehensive.

On attempts, Purdy was also third overall in TDs. Would you rather have his receivers stop short of a TD so he can get more attempts in on the next set of plays?

If Fields or Bagent could throw for 300 or 400 yards on 27 attempts, I don't think we would have complained last season.

What's your point? I honestly can't follow where Ryan fits in.

Agree on Purdy and well see what harbaugh can do with Herbert..he's definitely the most talented QB he's ever had.

Purdy will be revealed as a mid-tier game manager in the SB.

Who are the top 3 best game managers of all time? I'm not sure we're in agreement on what a game manager is.

IDK about all time. I view a game manager as a guy who does what he is coached to do, takes care of the ball and doesn’t cost you the game. That’s not a bad thing but it’s also not a guy that other teams dream of having. I realize Purdy has good stats and led 2 comeback wins in the playoffs. However, he also was part of the reason they needed a comeback and in both cases, the other team (including the Packers) lost the game more than he won it.

You're working too hard to justify your opinion that Purdy isn't a stud.

I am fine with seeing what happens. I predict he will be revealed next weekend. If I’m wrong then I’ll admit it. I only know that after watching him the last 2 games I wasn’t particularly impressed, despite the W’s. For the record, I’m not rooting against him. I am ambivalent on both he and the Niners.

For what it's worth, and it's obvious if anyone watched the games, Purdy's qbr has taken a significant dip in the playoffs. Not last but not league leading either.

Well its not like the Chiefs are a shit defense, so even if he has an average game against them does that mean that he’s a game manager? They shut down Josh Allen in the second half, Lamar Jackson is going to win the MVP and he looked positively pedestrian against them, but is anyone going to say that those 2 arent great qb’s because of that ?

Purdy hasn’t looked particularly good against either the Packers or the Lions. If he doesn’t look good against the Chiefs then I’d say it’s fair to question how good he really is.

Troy Aikman was a very good QB surrounded by a ton of talent. I wouldn’t call him a game manager but he’s not an all time great either. He was better than Purdy though.

It's been over 25 years so I believe you're recall is off..Aikman wasn't good, he never looked as good as Purdy, not even in his best season. He was the ultimate game manager.

A lot of the criticism of Herbert is due to his defense giving up leads late in the 4Q that he built.

He's considered a top 5 quarterback, even though he frequently wets the bed. He looks uncomfortable and sweaty in big moments, but he gets a pass.

Defense helps. Mahomes took a 10 point lead into halftime against the Ravens and then posted double goose-eggs in the 3rd and 4th quarters against them and still made it back to the Super Bowl.

TBF to Mahomes. the prior 2 playoff 4th quarters he matched 50% of his 17 game regular season output in terms of 4th quarter TDs 1 each against Miami/Buffalo. Mahomes during the regular season in the 4th: 4 TD / 4 INT.

KC"s offense this season was late-career Roethlisberger in terms of 2nd half effectiveness.

This is an anecdote. Mahomes makes plays in big games with the game on the line. Herbert blows leads and wets himself.
