I've seen this floated around by the cult but no source. ESPN has the bears 4th or 5th in pass block win rate. Again, Fields takes north of 3 sacks per game which is way above league average while Bagent behind the same line is sacked a league average amount of times or less. This is the same trend we saw at OSU. It's clear the issue is Fields holding on to the ball. Really dumb discourse in this city.

Yeah Bagent gets rid of ball, but unfortunately it's usually to place it in the hands of the other team.

I went to NFL.com to check QB stats. I sorted all QB's for 2023 rating. I had to get to the third page to find Fields. There are 25 players per page. Now this is all QB's, so it had guys that did not throw many passes. But it can be hard to properly judge guys because so many guys missed games, so using yards to INT's is not quite fair.

But his rating is about the same as Minshew, and that guy had more passes than Fields.

Not sure where you’re getting this but he moves really well for how big he is. There’s plenty of film to show him blowing up guys on pulls and so on. He’s a freak athlete for his position, and solidified that recently in the college all star week one on ones (1st year they allowed Jr’s to participate)

The issue is, he’s flying up the draft board and has gone from a mid 2nd/early 3rd rounder to a day 1 guy.

I recognize the hype. Just from watching his highlight videos, I thought he looked slow pulling.

To be fair to Fields, yeah gotta ignore all the guys who threw like 5 passes. On both advanced (EPA, QBR, etc.) and conventional metrics (passer rating), he's bottom-tier. I like EPA and QBR because they incorporate things that will help Fields (first down conversions when trailing in the fourth, for example) and assign proper weights to garbage time stats. Even with that more comprehensive look, at best you're looking at low 20s in rankings against his peers for year three, and at worst mid to late 20s. When you dig deeper into situational stats (fourth quarter, third down, etc) it gets worse, like throw your laptop out the window bad. But he's still H1M so let's move forward with H1M because guys like him.

Josh Lucas spilling some more beans, apparently, Justin Fields, isn't/wasn't the best of teammates

Quote:
“Justin wasn’t great his rookie year, we thought having two vets with him would really help him with Andy and Nick and that was not cohesive at all,” Lucas explained.

“The part I kind of liked about it was that Justin knew he was the best and should be out there,” he continued. “But the part you don’t like about it is that there’s a teachable moment in every point of practice. There’s teachable moments in the building during the day, how you carry yourself as a quarterback. There’s teachable moments at press conferences. There’s teachable moments every snap on Sunday. When you’ve got two guys that have won as much as Nick and seen as much as Andy, and you don’t take that information in, because you’re a little standoffish and a little abrasive, you’re wasting that opportunity.”

Given the crimes listed below I don't think Lucas should be allowed inside the walls of the city.

Price Bears paid to draft T.rubisky and Fields:

2017 first round pick, no. 2
2017 third round pick, no. 67
2017 fourth-rounder, no. 111
2018 third-round pick no. 70
2021 first round pick, no 11
2021 fifth round pick, no 164
2022 first round pick, no 7
2022 fourth round pick, no 112

I was saying these things during his rookie year. He's an entitled kid and he struggles with accountability.

To be fair to Fields he does sit and watch a lot. He sat 9 times alone during his debut in Cleveland and sat on average 3.38 times per game this year. Gotta give him credit.

Let's hoope we're not saying the same thing about Williams this time next year.

I would be shocked if C-Will did something similar. He appears to be a student of the game. I've reached the point where I will be pissed if we trade the pick or we don't select him.

Fields failed to outperform Gardner Minshew and it's a close call between how Fields performed and how Josh Dobbs performed. Dobbs was benched twice by two different teams. Really good company to be in if you're Fields.

Not sure, but he verifies what you saw on the field every Sunday, gives you unvarnished takes like Olin.

He would reel Hoge and Jahns back in when they would try to give you the "Bears Media Spin" on players, loved it when he would force them to say, "I know his tape is not good, but (insert excuse for lack of production), he simply gives you an honest evaluation on what anyone the knows football sees in players, even used the Claw's "business decision" when talking about Eddie Jackson's "embarrassing" tackling efforts.

Saves you from having to trudge through the CHGO crudfest because they will just repeat everything that is on Hoge and Jahns eventually, you may hear this on WSCR six months from now, it seems they need a player to be out of Chicago for a period of time before they can give you anything other than the "Bears Media Spin", you keep wishing WMVP will get better, but they just don't seem to know how to improve the product.

The fast forward feature allows you to move through the grab ass crud at the start of local Bears pods and avoid the hapless mediocracy on the two local sports talk yakkers, you do get an occasional nugget and original Bears thought from the guests on the Pods.

My favorite part of his offensive preview was when he rated some bum as average and Hoge/Johns had gave the guy a lesser rating.

His response was something like “yeah, that guy sucks, but I know the guy who scouted him is still in the building so I didn’t want to be too mean.” That’s the type of impulse control can only be found at the bottom of a Jack Daniel’s bottle.

I love hearing him shit all over Nagy and the 2019 draft. It sounds like there was a stud that he wanted, but Nagy convinced the masses they needed to move on from Jordan Howard and select a running back with their first pick.

I'm surprised they had any 2019 picks given their tendency to trade picks. I think Lucas at one point said or confirmed the bears had the fewest number of picks in the league during Pace's tenure. Besides the more well known examples of Fields, Mitch and Mack, they also gave up picks for

Anthony Miller
Jakeem Grant
Dontrelle Inman
Nick Foles

Probably more I am missing.

It cost an additional 5th and future 4th. Lucas doesn't think the tape for Fields would make him worth a 2nd.

Nagy's tenure was the end of the line for me with the "Bears Media", they embarrassed themselves by covering up for George, Nagy, and Pace, after all the "smart fans station" loved all of these guys, really exposed the station and the "Bears Media" as frauds and they still are to this day.

Not sure why Nagy would ever want to draft a running back, he rarely ran the ball and Pace never valued offensive or defensive lineman, they were blithering idiots when it came to roster construction, the franchise was exiled to the bottom of the NFL for several years due to having the worst front office in the NFL.
