These are almost exclusively an eye test and gut rankings. I watch very little college football, so I spent a ridiculous amount of time looking at players highlights. I watched "every pass" for the losses and big games for the top quarterbacks. I used CBS Draft Prospect Rankings and the combine invite list to determine what players I should "evaluate" for these rankings. Feel free to tell me why you believe they suck and share your rankings.

So you go from a fan boy of Maye to having him now #3 behind JJ?

No way is Rattler in the top 5

I'm still a fan of Maye, but I think McCarthy has that late game IT gene. Maye can be hit or miss and he did a couple (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky things that scared me.

I think Rattler is better prepared for the pro game than most quarterbacks in this draft. He spent a lot of time under center. He was also humbled and shook it off. Not many kids can bounce back from being a Heisman favorite to being booed off the field.

JJ McHandoff is a 3rd rounder at best

He'll be no worse than the 4th quarterback drafted. He won't be on the board at pick 20. I suspect he'll be a Falcon or Bronco.

Spencer Rattler sucks and is painful to look at. It's like looking at someone in the transition stage between alien and human in a horror movie.

He threw A LOT of interceptions. He takes A LOT of sacks. His stats are padded by a couple of great games and mop up time against prevent d.

Save a little space for Michael Pratt from Tulane in your QB group.

Leary is interesting late. I though he was going to be a top of the draft QB at NCST a few years ago but he got worse. He transferred to UK for some unfathomable reason and became a TO and sack machine.

Nice work, by the way.

As you can see, WR, OT is stacked. QB and TE are good. RB looks bad to me. Talent is much more towards the offensive side of the ball, although CB looks really strong.

Van Pran is too high based on high visibility. You are missing Graham Barton from Duke in your C group (even though he did not play there).

I think I want the Bears to go after a veteran at C

I thought the WR position was by far the best position. There appears to be a lot of potentially elite players in that group. I thought the tackle group was skilled, but I didn't see a lot of nastiness in it. I like nasty linemen. I fell in love with Ben Sinnott at TE. I didn't think he was far away from Bowers. The RB group looks solid. I wouldn't be mad if every pick the Bears made was on offense.

What does high visibility mean? I LOVED Van Pran. I thought the kid was as nasty as any offensive lineman in the draft. I didn't know Barton was a center. He was at tackle in the video I saw of him. I made note that he appeared to be a great interior lineman. If he was a center, I would be good with that.

Edit: I thought the DT group was underwhelming. I would prefer a Braden Fiske later in the draft over a Newton. My eyes tell me that's the worst position in this draft.

You're locked in on college football, so I'm interested in seeing your draft thoughts.

I'm sure I'm not alone in looking at Joe Milton as a guy I'd love as a development QB if I had a solid starter in place. Elite of the elite in terms of arm strength and size.

and yet, Harbaugh couldn't get anything out of him at michigan and he was never great with nfl level wr at tennessee. No touch. He doesn't seem to make you better.

Still...

He's no Kedon Slovis, so there's some hope. My eyes tell me Slovis is the worst quarterback in the draft.

By a couple of months. Age doesn't matter for quarterbacks.

Probably matters more for quarterbacks than any other position.

I think the hardest thing to predict for QBs is how they’ll process info and adjust over time. I believe that should improve with age.

When you have a 23yr old playing against 18yr olds, and he’s never taken off despite many opportunities to do so, I question whether he’s plateaued as a player.

Wasn't Brandon Weeden almost 29 when he was drafted with a first round pick? That's crazy.

Yep! It was Cleveland. They've made the worst quarterback decision in the past 15 years.

J.J. McCarthy's ceiling Brock Purdy, Tyson Bagent his floor. Arm strength concern with McCarthy. He's listed at the same height as Bagent, not as ripped as the arm-wrestler's son. McCarthy's measurables at the combine might reveal the dreaded t-rex arms.

He gave him the job and hopped on his back when Roll Tide was beating that ass. Captain Comeback knows what the clutch gene looks like.

I'll add this to this post so I won't have to make another. I see the potential of Jayden Daniels, but he's the guy who is most likely to be a bust out of the guys who are expected to be top 5 picks.

The only running QB among the top prospects is Daniels

carries/yards/ avg

135/1,134/8.4 Daniels

112/449/4.0 Maye

64/202/3.2 McCarthy

97/136/1.4 Williams

35/8/0.2 Penix

Guessing Harbaugh didn't want McCarthy running too much and sustain injury and have to downgrade to Cade McNamara.

Michael Penix will be an above average or better NFL QB. He is accurate, makes quick reads, and throws with anticipation. Hopefully he can work on his lack of touch.

Shouldn't it be AL'Quincy
