These false hopes are nothing more then "the current Bear's QB sucks" syndrome.

The higher the hype for the prospect, the lower the depression when they fail. It explains why so MANY fans are hanging on to the delusion that Justin will be a star Quarterbasck.

This stage is called Denial. The quotes above have passed through the denial process, but fell into old patterns of abuse. Thinking the next guy up will be a star.

Thankfully, these posters have been given a shot of hope that the #1 pick will finally produce a star QB in Chicago.

Join these posters and TAKE THE SHOT! Don't be an anti-#1pick er.

Florio has jumped on the C-Will train. He says C-Will will be a top 3-4 quarterback sooner rather than later.

We can't continue to focus on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and Fields.

He does. Particularly when it comes to players not having agents and not conforming. That's why I was surprised he did a 180 and walked a lot of stuff back with C-Will. Going out on a limb and saying that he'll soon be a top 3-4 quarterback was another surprise.

Lombardi had a guy from SI on...said Bears were looking for a Sam Darnold kind of deal.

Lombardi said he spoke to a lot of people at the combine and there was no interest in Fields.

Said likely he would end up at a place where he would have to compete to start.

Harsh reality for the Fields fan club.

I wonder why the ‘23 stats exclude the Washington game.

Not really. I think this comp/contrast is based on top 25 defenses verses defenses that were not ranked in the top 25. Washington's defense was rather shitty by all accounts. Hence the "gaudy" stats. It seems clear that Good ol Caleb struggles mightily as the quality of competition toughens. The discrepancy in the stats between good and bad defenses is eye-popping.

Who are you comparing him to? We've already established that he was far better against top 25 teams than your favorite quarterback, even though your favorite quarterback played with far superior talent.

"We" really haven't though. He played shitty against better competition. That much is irrefutable.

Against top 25 defenses his #s were shitty..And Fiekds might have played with better players, but he also played against better players. Ohio States's schedule is much tougher than USC's year in and year out

Tom Brady is 0-2 in the playoffs against Eli Manning and Mahomes is 1-3 in the playoffs against Brady and Burrow. If we look hard enough, we could find something wrong with every player or their numbers. It's why I asked you who you were comparing him to.

I don't follow college football like a lot of people here. I also assumed OSU played against better competition, but C-Will played against twice as many top 25 opponents than Fields. I'm assuming covid and Fields failing to beat out Jake Fromm plays a role.

13 Michigan 14-25 302 yards 4 TD 0 INT

8 Wisconsin 19-31, 299 yards 3 TD

3 Clemson 30-46,320 Yards 1 TD 2 INT

18 Penn State (PSU now unranked and winless however) 28-34, 318 yards, 4 td, 0 INT

9 Indiana 18-30, 300 yards, 2 td, 3 INT

Those Caleb #s against top 25 defenses just aren't adding up

Then I would encourage you to go game by game to fact check the data.

I posted the stats earlier. Thus I don't want to go back and find them. However it is concerning that he underperforms greatly against top defenses. And people can pooh pooh it if they want but it does matter.

If you're not comparing him to anyone else the numbers are meaningless

The Oregon game this year was the only game I saw that was concerning and I watched his play in every loss in his career. He was pressing.

Not sure why Justin Fields (11th overall/4th QB selected) is the standard for a guy supposed to go 1/1 but...
