No

If we can throw in the pro-Fields crowd in that deal then I'd do it in a second. The keep Fields/Fields is good flame is still strong.

Why not? He's younger than Adams or Hill were when they were traded for first round picks. What would you be willing to give up?

Those are #1 options. Higgins is high end #2.

I’d give them fields and maybe a 3rd. This is a very deep receiver draft and I don’t know that they should waste a ton of resources on somebody else’s guy given they already have Moore.

I would feel better if there was clarity on what a Fields return could get you or a great free agent option. There is always the trade down option at 9, but I would hate to wait until the 3rd round to address WR.

Maybe they want to know how it is possible that Desmond Ridder had a better completion percentage despite being widely acknowledged as an awful passer.

I understand why Mooney wanted to kill Fields.

"There’s a cautionary tale here for Mooney as he turned down an extension offer from the Bears before last season started. As I understand it, Mooney had a three-year deal worth more than $10 million annually on the table," Biggs wrote.

If Fields is your QB and you're not the #1 WR, you better make sure you get paid as follows:

X$ per route run regardless of being targeted
X$ per blocking for designed runs

That's the only way they'll make money. Forget receptions, TDs, etc. The way to get paid with Fields as the #2 is making sure you get paid for cardio and for blocking. That way his tendency to take sacks and ditch the pocket prematurely doesn't affect your paycheck.

If you think Maye gets past Cards why not trade back with Washington or New England and pick up extra picks?

You would get Maye, Nabers or Odunze, maybe pick up a second this year where you pick your center, or a different WR from what is supposedly a deep WR class?

If the Bears are going QB with that 1st pick.. I think it’s getting riskier to move back (even AZ might consider a QB up this high and maybe trade Call of Duty). Atm I think you take your guy and don’t look back. After all, if you finally nail that pick your franchise’s future is set for the next decade.

At most, if the Bears like both Maye and Williams, right now they trade back the one spot and take the one that falls to them. But atm I don’t think the smart move is to go back even a couple of slots if QB is indeed their top priority.

The Bears aren't going to be indifferent between Maye and Williams. If they move on from Fields, they are going to get the one they want, not settle for who is left. It's even more important to take the one that is supposedly a difference maker. Maybe both become a difference maker, but the Bears have to hit on this else Poles will probably get fired a year from now.

I think the chance of Poles losing his job, after one more year, is near zero.

If he trades fields and signs Williams he will be gone this year.

JJ McCarthy must've had a good combine. He's still mostly getting mocked as 4th QB off the board (which he probably was pre-combine, thanks to Penix durability concerns)--but now McCarthy's getting mocked anywhere from 3rd to NE/3rd QB picked to 6th to NYG/4th QB to Denver 12/4th QB. So McCarthy's gone from 4th to 5th to maybe 6th QB picked 2nd round or later to 4th or maybe 3rd QB in the top half of the 1st round. Yikes.

JJ McCarthy--a late 2nd round pick at best--going in the top 10 good example of Generals/General Managers re-fighting/redoing the last war/prior drafts. We missed on Brock Purdy, so we're going to overdraft JJ McCarthy.

They didn't miss on Brock Purdy. Purdy's a middling QB or worse on any team not coached by Shanahan surrounded by an all-time great roster of offensive talent.

Nothing to do with the combine, but it seems Washington's set on taking Daniels at 2. That could be a negotiating tactic w/r/t possibly trading for the 1st overall pick. But I don't see Poles trading the 1st overall at this point for anything less than 3 first rounds+, swapping Bagent for Howell and moving the Washington Monument to Grant Park.

Just saw a mock draft on The Athletic that had them taking Williams and then trading up to 5 and taking the Washington receiver.

Their draft class so far is as follows

Round 1 - TBD
Round 1 - TBD
Round 2 - Sweat
Round 3 - TBD
Round 4 - TBD
Round 4 - TBD
Round 5 - Bates

So five picks left and still a lot of players you want to pick.

Including the Fields return, I'm confident that we'll have enough picks. We saw Poles turn 5 picks into 13 his first year here.

I haven't been that impressed with Odunze in my limited exposure to him. He is good at winning on contested opportunities, but he doesn't seem to create much separation.

The only WR that I would be ok trading up for is MHJ. Other than that, pick whoever is available at your spot. The WR group is deep this year.

Is MHJ too quiet to be an elite WR? Who is the last elite WR that was shy or quiet? I need my #1 to be a diva. Moore is a #1, but he's not a top 10 receiver.

Evans never struck me as a diva.
