I wonder if Eberflus had to listen the whole time about how the Packers had an average age last year of .7 less than the league median?

There are a lot of good safeties available in free agency. Probably more safeties than spots to fill.

Geno Stone please. The Ravens are 10 million over the cap.

I'm sure these agents recognize the situation as well and players will be jumping at life preservers. I certainly wouldn't be waiting for a great deal

Teams are able to maneuver/delay, but some teams aren't willing to keep kicking the can down the road or take on some of these contracts knowing the future cost.

Bills are in cap hell, it happens when you have to pay a franchise QB, trying to acquire tons of pics to fill the spots of the vets they are releasing.

Watched Bates a bit and you can see why Poles likes him, athletic guy that fits in an outside zone scheme, an upgrade over Patrick, but that is not saying much.

Bears are spending very little on the oline, Jenkins, Wright, and Jones are all on rookie deals, so you can bring in a vet with a $4 million cap hit with no problem, you also do not know if Jenkins will be able to stay healthy and merit a second contract, so you get a guy that gives you a ton of positional flexibility. Morse is in his 30's, think they go younger there via FA.

Looks as if you can find upgrades at C, DE, and FS in FA, but the draft looks like the place to find offensive talent, especially at WR and OT. It will just depend on if Nabers or Odunze are still there at #9, seeing Nabers go to the Giants at #6 in several mocks, but Odunze seems to be slotted at #9, so should still be there, but think you want one of those guys if you can get them.

This is why the Bears are likely to trade a QB and move on from Fields. It doesn't make sense to commit (which they don't have to yet, but this is also their best opportunity to move on to a franchise QB) to a QB who hasn't shown that level of performance. It makes it more difficult to build around if you're having to give $40+ to a decent QB, but not a game changer.

They can let that market play out some without having to overpay. Good position to need help at this off-season. Bears have a chance to make a clear upgrade in the secondary.

It's a new era.

How many eras are we going to go thru before that actually happens?

That would be good news for the Bears. Just need the Vikings to resign Cousins.

If Caleb Williams is our quarterback, this is it.

Would love to get Xavier Mckinney, fits in as your FS in a cover 2, willing tackler, likely expensive as he is much younger than the group of former Pro Bowl dudes that just were cut.

Wonder if they go after Wilkins, fills your three tech spot, but he would be expensive, turned down a huge offer from Dolphins.

You have the cap room to take a shot at a top DE/DT, and then maybe a few second and third level guys, using your FA paper to build a good, but very expensive defense and then go all offense in the draft.

No true Chicagoan lets a family member go to school anywhere in Wisconsin.

And LeFleur just happened to be there and they happened to give us seats right next to him.

There’s going to be trade ups for QB’s in the top 10 (I think it’s possible 5 go in the top 10).. so some teams that may have otherwise selected a WR like Odunze or Nabers may not be there to take them (the Bears at #9 being one of those teams).. that said and keeping that in mind the Bears should have a shot at one of them if they stay put.

I think the lack of interest in Fields (atm) could force their hand in a trade back tho to acquire more capital.

There may not be the run on quarterbacks we're expecting if Maye falls. The Patriots taking MHJ at 3 could change a lot.

Fire Kevin Warren.

Adam Schefter appeared on NFL Live Wednesday night and dropped a subtle yet important nugget of information on what's happening inside Halas Hall.

"The Bears said at the Combine they'd like to get a deal in place by the time the new league year opens, which is one week from today," Schefter said. "The Bears are on the clock.

"I think there are people within the organization that would like to see him stay there too, which is one more wrench to throw in there."

A lot cheaper than I thought. Less than the tag annually.
