I would have been in complete agreement 3 days ago. I doubt he'll be anything more than a backup unless Poles already has a deal in place with the Broncos or Patriots.

There are like 3 open jobs at the moment and we haven't hit the draft yet

Probably true, but not any team’s first choice.

I actually don't believe that he has been shopped. Just as Rappoport stated

Shopping consists of the Bears actively making calls to trade him. I don't think they've done that either. He's been on the block and no team has been willing to pay the price for his services.

I really don't believe he has been on the block. If he were he'd already have been gone.

You believe all of the reports aren't true? You didn't think Poles was opening bidding with his "do right by Fields" bullshit? More importantly, you believe Poles was killing the value of the pick by not putting it on the block during the combine? That's a lot of leaps, my friend. I think Poles has to speak in the next week, so we'll find out soon.

Why you talking to a cultist, nas. Pretty soon he'll cast some cult spell on you and tomorrow you'll be posting about how Joe Rogan, George Soros, and Kid Rock conspired with the league to undermine Fields value ahead of free agency. Oh, and your lawn will be littered with Fields for QB1 signs, all of which were manufactured in LTG's garage.

I think the truth is that he really isn't sold on Caleb Williams. He might be trying to assess Field's trade value just in case he is wowed by Caleb Williams pro day, but as it stands now I hardly believe that he is dead set on drafting him.
And I also think that he knows that the best path forward for the franchise is to trade the pick and draft MHJ too. That can't be discounted in the evaluation process either.

Outside of injury/suspension, Fields will not be a week one QB starter.

What if there is a phony qb competition in the Preseason before the other guy gets hurt? How will that be sorted out?

I've worn a Caleb Williams jersey this week. I think I'm vaccinated from the effects. There's a lot of faith in the Fields camp. Because he's still on the roster, I can't totally dismiss their beliefs, even if there is a .0001% chance it is true. It's giving me a little anxiety.

Fields has been shopped. He's been shopped the entire 2023 season. The bears knew Fields was not the guy before spetember 2023.

This was some solid news.

Edit: Fields should fire his agent. His agent completely failed him.

I'd hazard a guess that the Bears and Eagles have a handshake agreement to send Fields to Philly for a 4th or 5th round pick if the Bears can't find anything else. The Eagles haven't added a backup QB behind
Hurts

I completely agree with you. Albert Breer brought this up a couple of days ago and he had a smile on his face.

Why would there even be any quarterback competition whatsoever where Fields goes to begin with, he’s great . There is no asking price too high for a player that general managers think is the man, they make the deal. If any GM thought that about Fields he would’ve been traded by now, no matter the cost.

How can he be "trash" according to you, and yet still net a 3rd pick or better in a trade? Seems rather counterintuitive doesn’t it?

Right now, it seems like the Bears are looking at a similar haul to Trey Lance, who isn't good.

In whose "View"? CFMB members? I actually don't believe he's been shopped and it makes no sense to trade for him if you view him as merely a backup because of the contract.

It's fine if you think he hasn't been offered in a trade.

But, even by the things that Poles has said, he likely has been and the market hasn't been there.

Let's say today that the Bears decided they did want to trade Fields. What round pick do you think they would get?

Isn't it quote telling that we are 50 pages in all of the people who repeatedly bash Justin Fields are in the Witness Protection Program when it comes to proclaiming whether they believe that Caleb Williams will be a star to Superstar player? Just Asking A Question

I think Williams has a good chance to be a star. At worst, he's an average starting quarterback. He is going to trounce Fields in terms of what Fields did in Chicago his first 3 years but that is a pretty low bar.

When you get away from CFMB and it's members you'd find very few that actually buy this however. I tend to agree with them more than I agree with you.

And again when you have the No.1 pick, the objective is to find stars-superstars. Not guys who are a little better than the guy you believe is trash

I'll take wagers on Williams, with whatever team he goes to, going better than 40 tds and 30 interceptions in 3 years. I'll even include rushing touchdowns if you want which gives Fields 54 tds.

While it seems absurd now, 2 months back Bears with Fields at QB went into Lambeau as low as anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 point dogs to the Packers...books were saying the 2 teams were equal on a neutral field with Pack giving the points b/c home-field. Might even have been some early lines with Bears favored (on the road in Lambeau? When's the last time that happened); Pack's defense was handing out NFC Offensive Player of the Week awards to every QB they played for a minute there in December.

Bears will be anywhere from -7 to double-digit dogs to the Pack @Lambeau with C-Will or any rookie QB
