I think the truth is that he really isn't sold on Caleb Williams. He might be trying to assess Field's trade value just in case he is wowed by Caleb Williams pro day, but as it stands now I hardly believe that he is dead set on drafting him.
And I also think that he knows that the best path forward for the franchise is to trade the pick and draft MHJ too. That can't be discounted in the evaluation process either.

I've worn a Caleb Williams jersey this week. I think I'm vaccinated from the effects. There's a lot of faith in the Fields camp. Because he's still on the roster, I can't totally dismiss their beliefs, even if there is a .0001% chance it is true. It's giving me a little anxiety.

Why would there even be any quarterback competition whatsoever where Fields goes to begin with, he’s great . There is no asking price too high for a player that general managers think is the man, they make the deal. If any GM thought that about Fields he would’ve been traded by now, no matter the cost.

I think Williams has a good chance to be a star. At worst, he's an average starting quarterback. He is going to trounce Fields in terms of what Fields did in Chicago his first 3 years but that is a pretty low bar.

While it seems absurd now, 2 months back Bears with Fields at QB went into Lambeau as low as anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 point dogs to the Packers...books were saying the 2 teams were equal on a neutral field with Pack giving the points b/c home-field. Might even have been some early lines with Bears favored (on the road in Lambeau? When's the last time that happened); Pack's defense was handing out NFC Offensive Player of the Week awards to every QB they played for a minute there in December.

Bears will be anywhere from -7 to double-digit dogs to the Pack @Lambeau with C-Will or any rookie QB
