kaiser? he's got 1 year left on his entry-level deal.

from the young D - vlasic/phillips/crevier are unsigned going forward. for sure they'll get a deal done with vlasic. so many LD on the depth chart that i'm not sure they want to do deal with phillips. i think crevier is gone. personally, i hope they keep both, especially phillips.

from the current D corps, could be lots of departures. zaitsev/tinordi and megna will be free agents. zaitsev will free up good money.

my take on the D-corps is that richardson and staff need to do a better job of mixing and matching the defensemen.

i believe seth jones can fuck up a cup of coffee on clearing/moving the puck inside and outside his D zone. connor murphy is also a turnover machine. vlasic (more by passing) and kaiser (more by skating) are clearly better than those 2 veterans in clearing/moving the puck out of the D-zone. in other words, a korchinski/murphy partnership makes sense on paper, but it's a slippery hand grenade...both are poor clearing/moving the puck out of their D-zone. eventually, we know korchinski will be an elite 2-way puck moving d-man, but, not now.

No, Phillips.

ok...kaiser was from round 3, phillips from round 5 of the same draft.

i agree, in that i would be disappointed if they let phillips go. strong on his skates, can hit. i got the hint from vosters that maybe blackhawk mngt. believes that phillips is a bit too cocky. i could be way off.

if i was the GM, i'd let zaitsev/tinordi/megna leave. i'd resign phillips and crevier and give vlasic whatever he wants. obvious that the the club needs to find a RD (pesce or montour) from free agency. RD rinzel is prob 2 years away at the soonest. 3 out of the top 5 D-man of this 2024 draft can play RD, levshunov...while dickinson and parekh can apparently play either side. buium and the giant, silayev, are both L.

easy for me to spend danny wirtz' money on reinhart and pesce. the fact of the matter is there is a cap floor of some $62 million and you might as well bring in some talent, instead of paying $10 million on the t. johnsons, c. blackwell's and n. zaitsevs of the world. i know C/RW reinhart has stated he wants to stay in florida, but i'm thinking $11.5 million per may be enough to get him here. pesce may ask for $5.5-$6 million. the cap overall is also going up over $4 million to around $85 million.

kaiser sent down, going to see more of lame duck contracted zaitsev, tinordi, megna and $4.4 million per year c. murphy. ok. nolan allen out for rockford, assuming this is to help rockford for an ahl playoff run.

heard chelios on wscr, was talking about bedard and what the hawks are doing to prepare for bedard's first 'real' contract. 2 more years on his entry level deal...it all depends on the production. will he be worth $6-$8 million per year? i hope he will be.

yeah, agree 100%.

showed last night and most nights. not enough talent, top to bottom. trying to give soderblom the benefit of the doubt, the ridiculous rebound that he personally gift wrapped for the blues' 5th goal was a glaring example of his current goaltending ability.

slaggert with his first goal, also hit the bar earlier in the game - with the same breakaway move. the blues had something to play for and entertained their fans. hawks have too many lame duck contract slackers.

So, give me a post mortem on his first season.

Is he ROY? Who are the other names I should care about long term?

I don't care about a team analysis.

Yes, he is ROY

....but the team still won fewer games and scored fewer goals this season than it did last season.

When will the Hawks be good? Or even entertaining?

I think they will be a wildcard team next season.

I think it depends on how many actual NHL players they have on the team. I'm thinking they still miss the playoffs but end up about 10th, somewhere around 80 points.

bedard, minus the fishbowl....scored 2 goals in canada's 4-2 win over great britain. competition wasn't the greatest, but bedard looked good without the jaw protection.

Why is he playing in these non-nhl competitions?

The only place he should be this offseason is the weight room, adding 20 pounds

a lot of factors, though intl. hockey doesn't have the same gravitas as the 70s and 80s against the soviets.

still an honor to play for your country, for some. i think most of these guys love to skate, score goals...would play all year if they could. chelios played in 4 or 5 olympics? was he captain america or did he love playing hockey?

didn't watch the game, saw canada's and bedard's highlites. without the fishbowl, didn't hesitate going to the net and was the quickest to the puck for his 1st goal. good to see.

Olympics yes, but there is zero point in playing in these tournaments against lesser competition

Why is this allowed?

First credit (albeit small) to my Betrivers account in a long while

People said I wasn't a hockey expert last year when I pointed this out. Bedard is getting outplayed by a guy on the Penguins.
