Ike   no one is moving to Arlington Heights BECAUSE the Bears play their home games in Arlington Heights.

People will move to Arlington Heights based on location, quality of schools, and 3rd and final....the entertainment and stuff they offer. For the most part they are 3 for 3 with or without the Bears. If anything number 3 gets diminished by the Bears living there. The only people that will benefit from the Bears moving to Arlington Heights are those that are connected to the city, county and state that'll get a taste of all of the development and contracting work.

daaahhh I'm from Cary and I gotta van it's called The Monsters of the Midway Ultimate Tailgate Cruiser, and it's our family tradition to drive to Soldier's Field every game in it and make beer brats BUT NOT LIKE PACKERS FANS, and we get both kinds of potato salad and everything, cept the traffic's so bad sometimes it's hard to find a place to park! But now I can just take 14 right through Palatine and all which is super easy and there'll be lots of parking so that's good. And there's a Metra for other people to take.

you took it the wrong way. the bears bring all of that, which is what youre saying. if it builds into the tourist attraction as it should, it will bring a lot of new faces. living right near lakeshore isnt the best idea for most people.

I mean, spot the lie. That’s a pretty good take overall.

The lie is that Northwest Highway through Palatine is annoying on a good day.

Halpert shrug.

It’s still better for the Cary resident than getting to the lakefront, and there’s probably a good couple few people who resemble that remark.

Okay. But the Bears are still a team for all of Chicagoland and beyond. Fans should be gathering where the roads send people to gather, not a big plot of land halfway to Woodstock across from a circuit court and an indoor soccer barn. It doesn't have to be Grant Park--the lakefront is surely meant for better things than the Chicago Bears--but somewhere in relative proximity to the Loop makes the most sense. 1200S/100W, for example.

Couldn't agree more. You'd be hard pressed (Maybe the Yankees and NYC) to find a sports team that is as ingrained into the fabric of its city as much as the Chicago Bears happen to be. If they move anywhere out of Chicago that goes with it. No offense to Suburbanites, but no one cares that it's a "tough haul" for you to get to the Lakefront from whereever you happen to live. You chose to live in the suburbs, downstate, or wherever, so if getting to Soldier Field is tough sledding then so what. That's just the cost of doing business the very second that you make that decision.

Location doesn't matter. They just need a dome. It's stupid to play outdoor sports of any kind in Chicago in December.

But everyone just has complaints about any option.

Yes it does. The second the Bears leave Chicago a helluva lot of the support that they have garnered as "Chicago's team" goes out the door with them. Chicago Bears of Arlington Heights just won't move the needle anywhere near as much.

Well that didn't happen in New York or Dallas when they moved to the suburbs. I think the Bears will still have fans.

In an ideal world, they’re downtown. The lakefront has plenty of spaces for various festivals and ethnic pride parades; having the stadium there is a fine use of land.

It’s the business aspect. Chicago wants to operate an NFL stadium as a park district building and the result is a comparative shithole of a venue.

I said this before they even wanted a new stadium but the Bears likely had the worst deal from the city/state in football and likely all major pro sports. Even now the Bears offer $2 billion for a stadium they won't own and everyone is like "That's not enough" while most other teams say "You'll get almost nothing from us and give us everything or we move to Vegas or San Antonio or London". The Jaguars, who no one cares about, are offering less than a billion though the project seems to be a smaller scale.

I think you’re looking at it backwards. Suburbanites sustain the team’s season ticket base, meaning they’re already dealing with getting to Soldier Field.

Easing that commute would be part of the owners rationalizing a move, not a demand from people who are already going to the games.

Patriots, Giants, 49ers and the Cowboys are four similar big brands of NFL football. Guess where they all play? It's basically Arlington Heights.

Is that a function of the McCaskeys not having a strong enough pull in government, their inability to use the media to sway opinions, or just the way Illinois and city politics are here compared to other areas?

I think it is as simple as them being too nice.

Somebody needs to put Kevin Warren on ice until a new owner is here.

If not one Suburbanite comes to the game, Soldier Field still would sellout each and every game. That's never going to be a problem. If they leave Chicago, a lot of those "rabid" Bears fans who consider this to be "Chicago's Team" leave with them.

All of that sounds good, but none of their fans are as loyal as "Chicago" Bear fans happen to be. Not even Dallas Cowboy fans

I travel out of town with the team every year and have for the last 12-13 years. Have you?

And I doubt very seriously if you are a season ticket holder either

How loyal are Bear fans if they’re all going to abandon the team for moving 20 miles away?

We here in Chicago are a rather "Provincial" bunch.

I don't live in the Chicago area.

I'm also not talking about how fans are only loyal to the Bears if they have the right zip code.

None of them are Chicago. Sorry dude. And as one that moves around for Bears games, none of those cities move around with their team the way Chicago moves around with the Bears. Not even Cowboy fans. I was at the Cowboy game when the Bears played. There were easily 30,000 or more Bears fans at the game. This happens every season at various stadiums. No other franchise in the league can say that.

And 49ers and Patriot fans are known frontrunner. When their teams suck ass, you can't find their fans with a damn search party. Chicago rocks with the Bears even when they suck ass. There are very few (if any) fans in any sport, that are as loyal as Bear fans.

I think the question is whether you go to games at Soldier Field, not whether you anchor vacations with a game.

But you still felt compelled to "question" my loyalty didn't ya? Or wonder why I would have an opinion even though it's fine for you to have one didn't you? Just Asking Questions
Well the team is named the "Chicago Bears" you know. And if that didn't matter, then name then the Arlington Heights Bears the second that they move and where that gets ya aye?
