I think he gets a lot of love from people like me who don’t watch enough to know the finer differences in the game. I listen to the spitting chiclets podcast a little; those guys are pros and think he’s Jesus. So idk.

He’s very fast - that’s stands out. He scores awesome goals, like the one in Dallas. He’s probably not the reason they lost but he’s definitively not the reason they won, cuz they didn’t.

I think he's got 43 points over the playoffs about 2 per game. But he didn't win.

i'm sure it wasn't florida's plan to win it in 7 after taking a 3-0 series lead. congrats go to both clubs.

I'm going to make the assumption Orr at #1 is what you were alluding to. Lack of longevity because of a Dan Hampton amount of knee surgeries curtailed his career. First and only defenseman to lead the league in scoring while winning 7 or 8 Norris trophies in a row. The biggest thing for me is the accolades from his peers. In his last Canada-Russian series Bobby Hull called him the best player by far on one leg!!!
Having seen all my top 5 play live I'm solidly in Orr's camp as #1.
And having said all that I'm good with recency bias going for Gretzky. (Again, another assumption.)
