This would be a good starting point to try and curb these mass shootings. Yes bad people may still do things and mental health is a problem, but background checks and a reasonable waiting period, along with training-- which I believe you have endorsed in the past-- would help as well.

he's not old enough. i think the age minimum is now 75, it used to be 35

I hope this kid gets shivved his first day in prison.

But if I'm his public defender, it makes no sense to take a plea. A plea gets him life in prison with no parole. A guilty conviction gets him life in prison with no parole. Yeah, I think I'll go to trial. Even the Washington Generals win a game every once in awhile.
