*denis signal activated!!!!*

The premise is simple but for Caller Bob I'll explain.

Give me a purchase you made that would seem overpriced prior to actually purchasing it but it's actually been a purchase you would happily make again.

I bought a Zojirushi rice cooker. It's called a Neuro Fuzzy, which seems to be a good nickname for whoever wins the 2024 Presidential election. It was almost $200 but it makes a truly remarkable bowl of rice with no real effort besides add rice, put in water based on some strange measurement system, and hit cook and then it eventually dings and the rice is perfect every time.

I bought a 3D TV like 15 years ago.

Is that the essence?

Only if you absolutely love all the 3D content you get to consume from the 6 months they made it which I assume is basically just Fast and the Furious 4 and some nature documentaries.

I spent about $300 on a leather satchel briefcase at Nordstrom about 12 years ago. It finally wore out this winter. It was the most durable briefcase I've ever owned.

How many briefcases have you owned?

About 5 or 6. Before that one, I kept buying cheap ones with plastic parts that would break within months. I looked long and hard for a replacement to the Nordstrom bag, but couldn't find one. I ended up dropping about $550 on a brief case/bag from Tumi. We'll see how it holds up.

Timbuk2 messenger-style bag. I think I paid $260 for it about 10 years ago. It has stood the test of time, is perfect for getting through airports with a laptop, and can even be sent back to Timbuk2 for repair. Was well worth it.

Festool Domino

For woodworkers, the Domino makes perfect mortise and tenon joints that are as good as those cut by hand by an experienced craftsman and twenty times faster to make. It was expensive when I bought it ten years ago, and now it's just ridiculous as Festool milks the price as much as possible before their patents expire next year.

Vitamix blender

The power and control (infinitely adjustable speed) is vastly superior to other blenders.

Sonos music streamer

All of my original units are still operating flawlessly after 18 years.

One of the YouTubers I follow (Technology Connections) had a video on rice cookers and he explained the "fuzzy logic" was basically a sensor that detected when the temperature rose above 212F (at which point the water was absorbed/evaporated) and shut off the heat. I think most $20 rice cookers use that method now.

Tumi typically has good products. It should last you a while.

Vitamix is in all professional kitchens. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but I'm close.

I spent about $250 on a money clip from Neiman Marcus a few years back. Still use it everyday.

I have a dog that sheds a small dog daily. I don't have carpet anywhere in my house. I bought an expensive vacuum (NOT a biological woman) about 5 years ago and it's made the experience a lot easier. After a million uses, it was definitely worth the investment.

I'm horribly disappointed that no one has chimed in with "Your Mom" yet.

This Coach briefcase has served me well over many years. I even use it as a laptop bag.

Sonos got into hot water a few years ago when they said they were going to stop supporting their older products. I was in the market for a blue tooth speaker, was going to buy a Sonos, but opted for an Ultimate Ears after I read that.

I use a binder clip. It was free from the office and works great.

Don't be hurt. I'm sure it is great and functional. The murse was from something like Seinfeld.
