This whole thing reminded me of this one time a co-worker accidentally deleted an entire production database. The CEO, CIO, a director, and his manager all hovered over his cube for a solid 3 hours until he finally was able to recover a backup and get things working again. Amazingly, they didn't fire him, but every production release they'd remind him not to delete the production database.
