A misnomer. There were teams that wanted him. And if he were as garbage as MANY here keep claiming then the Bears would have rid themselves of him long before they acquired the rights to draft "Generational talent" Caleb Williams

What was the misnomer in there?

Explain how the bolded part isn't a "misnomer"?

Poles gave him a chance because he was tanking. Shit, they still trying to find a spot for the great V.Jones. Are you saying V.Jones is a good player?

Because a misnomer is a misused word or phrase. Kind of like when people say they're from Chicago when they're from park ridge. I won't try to explain it to you, just look up the meaning. What you folded is an opinion that you disagree with. Perhaps it could be classified as bandwagoning deception.

So it was a misnomer to suggest that no one wanted a player that has been traded to another team. Got it.

I think half the time the computer in his head isn't rolling until he's dropped back. I don't think the data from the previous 3 quarters of play has been properly uploaded. I think Mahomes' computer is rolling the second the ball is hiked, I think all the data from 3 quarters has been properly uploaded. That's not a knock on Fields because that's 80% of QBs. The knock on Fields is the fumbles, interceptions, not throwing over the middle and the collar being tight late in the game. He can't make up for that with a couple wow plays in the first 3 quarters.

Tomlin is having sleepless nights trying to solve it. I think his decision is to put his foot up his ass. Hell, both his feet might be busy because it looks like Russ has had his fill of football.

A thread that is 140 pages in already. It's "thoughts" such as these which render you nothing more than a laughingstock at this point "Writer Bob"

No. It was an opinion with an exaggeration, using the bandwagon technique. The bolded is not a misnomer. Other examples might be something like "Xerox" or "ditto" for a copy, or "peanut", even koala bear.

Once again you just admitted that it's misnomer to suggest that no one wanted a player that was just acquired in a trade. Particularly a player that was allowed to choose where he wanted to be traded. Which Fields was allowed to do.

A misnomer is an inaccurate identification or designation of something: it's misnamed. To tie in another message board hot topic, if a school claimed to give students free lunches but the lunch only consisted of half a sleeve of plain Ritz crackers with negligible nutritional value, to call the cracker sleeve a "school lunch" would be a misnomer. (You could, however, call an easy lay in rural Wisconsin a "cracker sleeve.") "No one wanted Fields" is not putting the wrong label on something, it's apparently just not true, or wasn't at the time.

That this actually has to be explained says a lot about the "academic" nature of the place, but it's clearly a "misnomer" for anyone to state that "No One Wanted Justin Fields before he was traded during the offseason.

Thus it's "incorrect" for anyone to suggest that Fields was unwanted when he was.

It's an incorrect or misleading use of a noun, dumbass. Not an incorrect or misleading statement. Christ man I thought you were a teacher.

What is a synonym of “misnomer”?
Misnomer is quite a unique word without any clear synonyms. Some phrases that convey the same idea are:

Inaccurate label/name/title
Misleading term
Wrong label/name/title

Perhaps this lack of interest in Fields shouldn't be a surprise. The market for the 25-year-old quarterback was believed not to be "as robust as the Bears and Justin Fields would like it to be," per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

A reasonable goal for Fields would be to become the next (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.
(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has been collecting NFL checks for a number of years now as a backup.

Again thus is just simply "misleading" to repeatedly suggest this.

https://www.si.com/nfl/2024/03/17/justi ... l-steelers

Quote:
Apparently, there was no shortage of interest in the 25-year-old signal-caller, with at least four other teams having inquired with the Bears about a potential Fields trade. However, Fields’s representatives preferred that the QB not be sent to any of those teams and told Chicago he wanted to join the Steelers, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

The Bears and GM Ryan Poles did right by the former No. 11 pick, sending him to his preferred destination instead of shipping him elsewhere for maximum value. The report did not indicate which other teams were interested in Fields, nor the offers Chicago received

Fields won't even hit that ceiling. No one is going to give a contract to a QB who turns the ball over like him. When shopping for a back-up, ball security is one of the top things a team will look for.

The good news is that if Fields wins the QB competition we will find out very soon how good he was given how quickly he picked up the offense and there are no excuses to not be good from the start.

As long as he doesn't lose his speed he can be kept around for gadget plays..2pt conversions etc as long as he would accept a reasonable contract.

For those who like him to be the week 1 starter currently + 350 @DK
