Not counting RR, because I didn't know who he was, WR was the first person I met from this community. IIRC, he worked for or with a guy I was doing business with. When we met in person, he used my board moniker. Every time we've communicated on Facebook, he's used my board moniker. Hood posted some holiday pictures on IG years ago that I was in. WR commented and said, "I didn't know you and Nas were related." Hood sent me a screenshot to ask me about the name Nas. In 20 years of me knowing WR, he's never used my actual name anywhere until yesterday. He was clearly looking for attention. Maybe he wants a hug from me. That can be arranged.

MANY didn't believe Bernstein had the appearance, background, or seniority to become the FOTS. That pissed MANY people off and MANY more were jealous of it. Bernstein wasn't apologetic about his ascension. That only pissed those people off more.

Leila likes him. Maybe some guest nerds that have segments. I basically like Bernstein but I really am puzzled about his self inflicted wounds. He's bigoted all the time yet he doesn't think he is? Gregorian chants? Chicago accent=dumb? He's the most judgmental host in radio with insinuations based on group, job, location, and religion. It's bigotry.

I don't care. A lot of it is funny, some of it isn't. But that's the line really entertaining people walk. It's just plain old hypocrisy to rip other people doing the same goddam thing.

No one defended McNeil when he was fired. Seemingly everyone cheered when North and Murph were gone. Boers was a unique situation given his health issues but it's not like he had a ton of friends there either though I think he was more well liked than Bernstein.

The Score seems to operate on the idea that a person who leaves on a Friday is forgotten and his desk filled by Monday.

I don't think it was really possible to defend Mac in public given the climate at the time. You have a woman from NBC who got one person fired via twitter mob. How do you know she stops there?

Terry seemed like he was very respected on the way out, though it's fair to mention that the staff was still very much in its Bernstein Clone era at the time and it would be really weird if all those people didn't like him.

I think MANY people's dislike of Bernstein has more to do with them than it does with anything Bernstein has said or done. They don't like that he's a scrawny nerd and Jewish. They don't like that he comes from a well off family. They especially don't like that he's publicly leaned into liberal views. If Bernstein was conservative, MANY would love him. He probably would have gotten fired a decade ago, though.

I agree with you. Personally, I have never made my choices for what I enjoy based on politics or religion. Bernsie and I disagree on probably most political viewpoints. But I have enjoyed him for the most part on the radio. But others seem to not have that ability.

It's my opinion. I listed a lot of reasons I think people don't like him. I didn't say being Jewish was at the top of the list for everyone. Being unable to identify with him is certainly a factor, IMO. Mike North wasn't beloved because he was conservative. Mike North was beloved because everyone knows Mike Norths.
