Tuned in a few times during the year to listen to M & H and I always seem to catch the Stacey Dales segment.

She is absolutely brutal. Terrible thoughts.

She was asked about her thoughts on the hire of Waldron as the Bears OC

Basically, said it is a good hire because he is going to focus on fundamentals.

her brother just passed away - said she hasn't been around due to attending to a family matter. the morning crew obviously didn't know, otherwise they wouldn't have given her the whole 'where've you been, haven't seen/heard from you a bit'. she picked up that they didn't know, no condolences - clear that she didn't want to talk about it, said she had a family matter to attend to.

yeah...

i only know this because i read canadian media, looking for hockey stuff. her brother's death was news, because i believed he played in the cfl. can't imagine anyone at the score knowing this. maybe rosenbloom - as he has friends in hockey circles and by chance, maybe mentioned due to the nfl network connection.

She's billed as an NFL Expert or Insider but rarely says anything that even a casual fan of the NFL wouldn't already know. Or, she just says...nothing:

Knowing Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus as she does, they and Shane Waldron are going to be "super open" in their conversations.

She delved pretty deep into player analysis when she said that Aidan Hutchinson is one of the best in the business.

Yep Tad you nailed it. It is like that every time she is on.

She may look ok, but she is terrible at this gig

I agree she is brutal, she always related football stuff, to her "WNBA days".

Jarrett Payton just as bad this morning offering his thoughts on Waldron hire, and what it means for Bears QB situation.

"He was hired to either be a guiding force, to help Justin Fields grow, or be an experienced NFL signal caller for Caleb Williams as
he begins his NFL career"

Jarrett Payton gets the life pass for being the son of sweetness. Even if he had something to say, which he doesn't, his style will put you to sleep. It's strange because he is pretty accomplished athletically, in comparison to other local sportscasters. He should have some insight. There's nothing there. His sister got all the personality. Seems like a nice guy and will probably be at WGN until he retires.

Yeah being a son of the greatest RB of all time makes him bullet proof IMO. He is really blah and adds next to nothing, but he is pretty far above Dales.

While JP's "contributions" on the Score don't add much I think he is fine reading the sports on 'GN. And the gentle shots he takes at Micah and her disinterest in sports are often humorous.

This morning she claims her favorite QBs from last year in the draft were Stroud and Richardson and when asked why she says it is their "presence"

She gets more brutal every time she comes on the air.

He had her about crying discussing KC as she said she recently lost brother.

 She also reminded everyone, the Bears passed on Mahomes, and Chiefs drafted him.

She was really, really impressed that Caleb Williams really wants to throw the ball and is a true quarterback.

She also said it is noteworthy that his foot speed changes if he is going to sprint or if he is going to lag.

Doesn't get much better than that.

I used to hate her segments, but now I just accept them for they are, Fun-Bad.
Today she was just reading off stats on blitz % by Houston, you could tell she didn't
really understand it, but just felt the need to rattle off stats. Also, her word/phrase
of the week was "Behind the sticks". The Bears and Caleb can't afford to be playing
"Behind the Sticks" Sunday in Indy.

Today she also gave us a "walking into a hornet's den."

Yes, and multiple times. It's like she hears a phrase used, makes a note, then forces
that phrase into her next on air segment.

"It was as if Caleb Williams was walking into a hornets den, each time he went back to pass,
the Houston pass rush was that good. All those sacks forced the Bears to play behind the sticks,
which is bad for a rookie QB."

Since I know she's bad I don't need to keep reading everyone's complaints about her. I'd rather just look at her pictures.

Amazing.

I've done what I have not done in the entirety of my sports talk listening life - turned to ESPN 1000. Sadly, for the first time, WSCR has left me no choice (I admit I'm a creature of habit and need to hear some live local sports talk).

In any case, I fire it up a few mins ago and Mumblemouth and Waddle are talking about nothing, then begin teasing their next guest - STACEY DALES! In their teasing of how great she is, they talked up that SHE was the one who broke the news that Caleb was wearing a play-filled wristband. She hops on, in her monotone voice, and thanks them for having her on and just wanted to clarify that they have seen Caleb wear it before, so it being "news" was a bit taken out of context...lololol

Anyway, this may be my ignorance speaking but didn't there used to be an unspoken agreement that regular guests would choose one station or the other - or is that something that happens a lot (for instance, would I find KC Johnson or Biggs doing a hit on 1000)?

I heard this as well, and thought the same thing. She's bringing her mom along for her 2 week European adventure for NFL games as well. Riveting stuff!

Connection issues this morning with her and had long moments of awkward silence and garbled chat. She never sounded better! They should make that part of her segment every week.

Yes, I get the feeling all her information is second hand, even though she acts as if these coaches are telling it to her directly. When she announced
that Waldron and Bears didn't script the first 15 plays until after the Colts games, per the urging of Mercedes Lewis, Mully and Haugh were stunned,
and she kind of backpedaled, and said she didn't want to create drama.

The script seems like something coaches do because its been done since Bill Walsh.

You would have to be a fool to be slavish to it any way. After the first play or so, the combination of possible situations becomes so innumerable that a script should have little value.

The script isn't in order. I think all it is, is the skeleton of the game plan. You just see if the tendencies you've identified are true or false.

I absolutely think it's necessary.
