The Rose injury...that was Bernstein showing his ass as sympathetic of the ownership class, it overrode whatever silliness could've plausibly been used to make that an entertaining radio topic. Like in-prime B&B would've had fun with a player who was healthy but not returning, instead he was worried about Jerry Reinsdorf's wallet

That was around the same time Joakim Noah said he played hard for working-class fans and Senor freaked out because that meant Noah wasn't playing hard for Rich Melman's sons.

It should be mentioned that Dan has "evolved" in this sense in recent years, as more of a champion of the worker

a long way from calling 'pernicious myths' about Reinsdorf, Dan now busts out an unflattering imitation ("David Eckstein...Eddie Stankey", this was a J. Hood bit!) when bringing up the White Sox not spending money

Can we officially declare that Bernstein won this war? Portnoy seems back to pizza reviews.

I think I called that Portnoy would get bored of this after a few days and move on to some other petty grievance.

No….Danny B lost big time…..only reason Dave punched down was because it was Eddie, who is the nicest guy you will fine and literally all of Chicago media(even those at his station) backed up Eddie and say Bernstein is just a miserable loser now.

Also all of Bernsy past tweets/views etc exposed him as we all know him now as a woke hypocrite whose best days(and they were funny and good) were mid 2000s

Nothing happened.

Why is Saint Eddie of Barstool the nicest guy you will find?

You might want to look up what the definition of literally is. I’ll give you an example: literally nobody in Chicago cares what Portnoy thinks. Most don’t even know who he is.

Yep. I think it was embarrassing for some of his past tweets and comments to pop back up and make their rounds again as I'm sure the new version of Bernstein wants to pretend none of that happened, but its over. Dan goes back to sulking through life and collecting a nice paycheck.

Bernstein's boss for a day? Does Portnoy not understand radio hierarchy? He signed himself up to be Bernstein's cabana boy.

Yeah but you know Portnoy will make it difficult. Bernstein might ask him to fetch some water, and Portnoy will bring it back with some traces of lint and dirt in it.

It's "Producer for a Day", not "Boss for a Day".

The Barstool Pizza Critic won an auction giving him the "privilege" of producing an installment of the Bernstein and Holmes show.

He thinks he won the right be Bernstein's boss because he is evidently clueless about radio hierarchy.

Ahh I see.

They should tell him that they are sorry for the inconvenience but that show no longer exists so his opportunity is over.

Yes, it will be an interesting dynamic if Portnoy actually shows up.

Might be bullshit unless there's a new auction. Expired last May.

Any good radio person would embrace this and have Portnoy co host for a day. Ratings would skyrocket.

It would not have to be adversarial. All Dan would have to do is recognize he didn't handle it well, right at the beginning. I think even he understands this is true. It would disarm the entire discussion. After that, it would be fascinating to hear two accomplished guys discuss their very different paths to success and their philosophies.

Too bad. That would have potential.

Although now that I read it, the "producer for a day" billing is a bit misleading since the prize merely allows the winner to attend a pre-show meeting.

Fortunately I never partook in Barstool but have enjoyed this dust up. Brick, are there some real things you dislike about Barstool and they group? Or is it just a thing?

They are awful but nearly all of them seem to really appreciate the free publicity. Many others laud his efforts to help small business.
I am still hopeful this leads to Bernstein getting his comeuppance and we no longer hear him on the air. Maybe he can bring Patrick Kane in as his assistant producer.
