Caleb has progressed more as a passer in 3 weeks than any Bear QB has in 3 seasons.

Future is bright if he can settle down on the deep balls.

Really? Might want to go into the way back machine when Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky absolutely lit up the Bucs. Funny how we forget.

The way Bears fans are talking about this Colts game you would think the Bears scored 35+ and won the game. Reality has left the building, but don’t worry it’ll be back before you know it. Every defense the Bears play the rest of the season is vastly better than the one Caleb Williams just got clowned by.

I remember. That was not sequential improvement. That was a one-off in year two.

He quickly reverted to the same guy who can’t turn left.

What you saw today was not actual improvement by Williams. He put up gaudy numbers because of an end of half Hail Mary (that went for zero points) and a final drive where he played directly into the Colts hands and lost the Bears the game.

When the game was actually meaningfully competitive he was dreadful. Turnovers, stalled drives, errant throws, accuracy was piss poor…nothing was good until the Colts backed off completely and let him play catch with his wideouts (provided he ran enough time off the clock, which he happily obliged). You want to call Mitch’s game fool’s gold? Well, easy with hindsight but not wrong. But if we are in the business of calling out meaningless “improvement” in garbage time then you better hold Caleb to the same standard (you won’t.)

He had two big plays over the middle in stride. One for a TD. I don't think he's ever had two like that in one game in his career.

He’s in week three and you’re what-abouting a 2nd year Mitch. That was a one score game most of the way. If he lives off 8 yard completions to his tight ends, he’ll be in good company with other good QBs.

I don’t know how you can watch that game and think he’s not improving, unless you’ve already decided you dislike him on sexual orientation alone.

……..it was a one-score game because the Bears offense got blanked in the first half by the worst defense in the NFL. He is getting worse, the turnovers are getting uglier and more prevalent. He threw the ball directly to Colts defenders routinely. His indecisiveness and lack of situational intelligence is getting starker and he’s not even accurate on his throws.

But if you want to bring up his black gayness, fine. Do you think he even goes in the first round if he isn’t a dream DEI candidate? After the season he had at USC? No way. If he was straight and white he might have gone in round four. More realistically he would’ve had to stay in school.

He threw the ball directly to Colts defenders routinely. His indecisiveness and lack of situational intelligence is getting starker and he’s not even accurate anymore.

But if you want to bring up his black gayness, fine. Do you think he even goes in the first round if he isn’t a dream DEI candidate? After the season he had at USC? No way. If he was straight and white he might have gone in round four. More realistically he would’ve had to stay in school.

We’ll go in order…

It was a one score game almost throughout because both QBs were awful on the first half. He threw two picks: one bad, one bounced off Odunze’s chest. As the game tightened he improved. That’s what you want from a rookie. He made decisive quick throws. You saw two paths with young QBs and if you came away preferring the Richardson path, you’re going to be doing a lot of losing.

Yes, I think he’s been the obvious 1/1 in this draft since Oklahoma. I’m not sure I even knew he was non-binary at that point. He’s the best prospect since Lawrence and arguably better.

Exactly. His highlight reel is great from yesterday. He's making the rookie mistakes that most quarterbacks make. Even Hussra after week 1 was begging for Williams to throw more interceptions and Williams is granting him his wish.

Now we just wait for the true breakout game from Williams.

Steelers defense was dominant again...don't think Chargers had 200 yards of offense.
Steelers should be 4-0 after next week unless they give the game away which will provide opportunities.

So far the 3-0 start has cost me 1 Survivor ticket and my Steeler under wins has some work to do.
After next week will be ready to dive into the Steelers under wins and in-game bet situations when they fall behind.
We know what it will look like when the Steelers have to throw to come back to win.

Yesterday he actually won the game for them against a good team. He was the best player on the field.

Nah don't try and spin it. He can't be "Generational" one minute and "just another rookie" the next. He's playing poorly and the only reason that the Bears aren't 0-3 is because the defense won game 1

Well, he is a rookie, so yes, he can be "just another rookie" until he isn't. Again, the best qbs of all time struggled or didn't play much as rookies. I think you are just enjoying this now because you know your entire offseason of bashing Williams is going to look silly. That's why you refuse to answer even basic questions about what Williams will do with the Bears.

Some of the best QBs struggled and some didn't. Some of the biggest flops in history also struggled as Rookies and continued to struggle.

And the reason that the stats game is meaningless is because Justin Fields had a shitty supporting cast throughout his tenure here. Especially during his first 2 seasons. He didn't even have legit 1s and 2s during his first 2 seasons here. He also wasn't allowed to Chuck the Ball 39 times per game either.

However you're the same guy who basically stated that Caleb would be better out of the gate and is already backpedaling on it. Conveniently as soon as the games started.

Exactly. That's why it's dumb to overreact to the first few games.

Well, the Steelers also don't trust Fields to throw much.

I don't think I said that Caleb would be better out of the gate but Williams was much worse than I expected in game 1 but he's already improving at a rapid pace.

We aren't used to seeing good QB play. Every single good qb has stats you might consider padded in the same way.

The guy threw for the second most yards in the league yesterday.

Really? Might want to go into the way back machine when Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky absolutely lit up the Bucs. Funny how we forget.

We aren't used to seeing good QB play. Every single good qb has stats you might consider padded in the same way.

The guy threw for the second most yards in the league yesterday.

He also threw the Ball 52 times.

OK?

Guess how many the top qb for yardage this week threw?

so if we're taking away the hail mary pass from his stats does that mean we can start to include the 2 TD passes his receivers dropped in the previous 2 games? Or are we only allowed to remove outliers that positively affect Caleb's stats?

I think the Bears can certainly ruin him, but I do think he's by far the best QB rookie the Bears have ever had. Ever.

Almost like they are trying to get him reps throwing the ball and not turning him into a game manager like that pretender in PITT.

You are missing one very important ingredient, our offensive line doesn’t suck and thankfully we have a GM that understands the importance of the position. You better hope your guy doesn’t die.
