Yesterday Grote asked if Leila Wednesday would still be called "Leila Wednesday." Bernstein said calling it that is infantilizing, and only using her first name is demeaning. Hasn't everyone on the station, including Bernstein, been calling it "Leila Wednesday" for years?

Today, after playing a clip from Caleb's press conference yesterday:
Bernstein: I heard some quietly scathing stuff in there.
Herron: [laughing] Of course you did.

Call her Leila Rahimi. You don't know her like that.

yea i caught that, it was awkward for sure. Grote seemed incredulous at first, like he thought it was incredibly stupid , then Dan said "well you wouldn't say it's a STEVE Wednesday would you ???" and Grote suddenly agreed and said that helped him understand everything.

I have no rooting interest in anything Leila has to say on Wednesday’s ( or any other day for that matter ) but I enjoy her giant boobs.

I can't listen to Leila. She's a wildebeest. I hope to solve this vile hate via Gregorian Chant.

That bit about Leila Wednesdays can't be true - can it? JFC how is he able to live in the bubble he does? How does no one call him out?

While I'm no Parkins fan, and he too often leaned waaayyy to heavily into the "hey, here's a story about just how insanely inept I am, lololol" embarssing storytelling, he was at least able to to not melt down when called out (be it a misspeak, an incorrect prediction, a bad take etc). Dan's standard has always been preach/condescend/direct people how to think---->if/when it's even remotely hinted at that he was wrong just go to "durrr, I'm an idiot why would you listen to me" throwaway line.

For the first time in my sports radio life (day 1 820/1160/670 listener etc etc) I can now only stomach a touch of the morning show and simply do not go near the station the rest of the day (I've actually flipped on ESPN 1000, something I truly thought I'd never do, to hear the latest goings-on). Dan's decline into being a total bag and Larry positioning his sizable mass into afternoons have made the station a no-go for me from 9:45a until at least 5:30a...unfortunate.

I heard it.

It's real.

It must be so exhausting to have to deal with a douchebag like Dan. He thinks he is smart and obviously very woke.

He is an idiot and Grote sounded like he just didn't want to go down that path and conceded that it was not appropriate to call a woman by their first name (because you wouldn't do this for a guy) after he literally did this for the last few years

I am guessing that Leila Rahimi would not give a shit either, but he felt the need to sound like an even bigger moron than he did over someone calling him his last name.

He is a like a slightly less vile version of Keith Olbermann.

Holmes is a race grifter, massive socialist, but even he has to be exhausted of walking on egg shells around this moron.

You can't say her first name unless you're a sexist.

You can't say his last name only.....

WTF. This guy should be miserable and offended on his own.

In transition Haugh dealing with Bernstein's arrogance seems to be more aggressive standing up for his opinions most which Bernstein tries to debunk. Bernstein used Larry's united opinion as a shield knowing no one wanted to challenge Larry's mandated power at the station. Bernstein without Larry is a prime target to be mocked.

I agree totally and Bernstein's show to Spiegel and Holmes transition today was so bad, they spent a big chunk of it on feelings and then Wayne Brady's sexuality. I turn it off in a huff once a day now, I shouldn't turn it on at all but it seems so weird to not be listening the day after a Bears game and during Bears season. They have well and truly ruined the Score with this latest move, keeping Dan and Loho quarantined together gave the rest of the station some hope. That hope is gone now.

I think I'm behind the curve on throwing in the towel on this stupid station but I'm there now. I put up with Spiegel and Mannelly, Bernstein and Mcdoink, Bernstein and Rahimi, Bernstein and Goff, Spiegel and Goff, Spiegel and Parkins, Parkins and Spiegel, Bernstein and Holmes, and now Spiegel and Holmes. I'm out. At least those shows had something to hate listen to, but they managed to exhaust that energy too. It's been over for a while, but it's never been more over than now.

I thought at first this didn't happen but indeed it's a huge chunk of feelings talk, I didn't hear Wayne Brandy's name but also skipped ahead a bunch

But anyway I think it was actually positive, notice that a Holmes and Bernstein interaction only ruins 20 minutes instead of an entire shift.

Today's version featured soap operas and which star the Aunties enjoyed most, followed by Bernstein reading the wikipedia of said soap actor. The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Has anyone checked on Dan?

Both Mulligan and Harris referred to Leila Rahimi Wednesday as "Leila Wednesday". Dan was very strong in his statement that this was unacceptable, yet both said this with him involved in the conversation. A serious conversation is needed. I need Laurence to come back and talk slowly so we all understand how horrible the words of these men are.

On Monday's show, Dan Bernstein accused John Smoltz of dog-whistling while calling a playoff game.

He then went on to accuse of trying to be like Michele Tafoya, which is, of course, what this is really about, not how he calls a game.

I know of zero examples where Tafoya was accused of dog whistling while doing sideline reporting, but, to Dan, they are the same because he believes they have the same politics and are the worst people alive because they think differently than him.

Does Tafoya have a reputation for being a racist during games?

Does anyone else have issues with Smoltz like Dan does?

Is this about anything other than Dan wanted to invoke politics?

Did he provide an example of this “dog whistling” that Smoltz is allegedly doing?

I think he was getting on Smolz because he did not blow the outfielder stealing the home run the other night. Smolz is on the baseball police dont show off blah blah.

A lot to unpack from the easily-triggered BD, again. I picture you doing a Jason Goff esque "THERE IT IS!" every time Dan invokes the nuanced political opinion of "racism, not a fan of it"

Unlike BD I don't listen to the entirety of the show twice daily, but did hear a bit about Smoltz during transition to afternoons.

The example of dog whistling during the broadcast by Smoltz was his grumbling over Profar's celebration of his home run robbery. He cited other anecdotes of Smoltz not liking that "style" and how they all seemed to be directed at darker skinned players. You should find it reassuring that none of Spiegel, Harris, or Holmes were on board to this extent with Dan's aspersions

Now I didn't hear the bit about Michelle Tafoya. Like BD's fellow member of "perpetually aggrieved old white" caucus, BadRogue, implied, I don't think Tafoya ever dog whistled during her sideline reports.

But outside of work, Tafoya outed herself as MAGA and leveraged it into a grift, though I can't imagine it's as lucrative as a job at NBC. So that's likely why Smoltz is grouped with her, as he's (I think?) known to hold that opposite nuanced political opinion of "racism is fine, just fine".

Now, is Dan injecting that background into how he hears Smoltz? Or he merely calling it like he sees it, where that background coming through in Smoltz's broadcasts?

or in a shorter response that doesn't use that meme tweet since you didn't get that joke the first time:

I don't think Dan hates John Smoltz because Smoltz wants to lower the capital gains tax.

Does Tafoya have a reputation for being a racist during games?

Does anyone else have issues with Smoltz like Dan does?

Is this about anything other than Dan wanted to invoke politics?

Kinda sounds like Lil Danny is the one perpetually aggreived dunnit ?

Dad, is John Smoltz coming for us?
I don’t know son, I just don’t know
