I got scared by a 24/7 clickbait thing saying Gaetz resigned only to see not true. Now I’m sad.

There's managers and then there's overManagers. Managers are becoming extinct so 40 years experience doesn't mean squat to the organizations that move needles.
What you need today is an expendable line of bullpen pitchers that throw 95+ and you're golden. Use them up, throw them away, get some more. Hitting is easier. Walk and hit homeruns.

Oh, and I guess stealing bases is allowable now. Yay baseball.

The bolded is one of the four horseman of the death of baseball.

It’s that, Jerry Reinsdorf, innings limits and Jerry Reinsdorf.

Without Jim Thompson and Michael Jordan, Reinsdorf would be a short footnote in Chicago sports history. I used to give credit to the guy, but I see now what he's worth in a stand alone position. Nothing. Just a guy.

Just a guy with 7 rings.

The fact that he should have sold in 2009 doesn't make the rest of it go away.

You'll get Sizemore and you'll like it

could have just kept the last goof, since next year is another lost one.

I do agree with USA that there are some interesting arms on the way up, but even those are going to take a couple of years getting knocked around

I hope we see another owner in Chicago who gets lucky 7 times and provides championships. I'll even take 15 extra years of not winning championships in trade though I'd rather not.

Arms are a dime a dozen. Everybody has arms. Send them to a lab, bam, walk out with an arm.

Sizemore probably makes zero difference for one or two years to this team.

That's fine. Give him credit for Michael Jordan and Jim Thompson. It's allowable. I used to too.

The '24 White Sox were a fun novelty act. The only way there'll be any interest in them through the 20s will be if they go after the loss record again. 90- 100 losses with Jerry at the helm the interest in them will be at thug Sky level.

"Interesting arms" is not going to be enough. They had decent starting pitching from 20-23 and it didn't do dick for them. You need good position players and the disposable arms that Nardi mentioned to win in today's game.

Buck Showalter has reportedly expressed interest in becoming the next manager of the Chicago White Sox.

During a recent live chat, The Athletic's Keith Law (h/t Joe Binder of SoxOn35th.com) wrote that Showalter is "angling" for the managerial job in Chicago.

The 68-year-old Showalter has spent 22 years as an MLB manager with the New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets, but the White Sox would perhaps be his toughest job yet since they are coming off a 2024 season that saw them lose an MLB-record 121 games.

Over the course of his managerial career, Showalter has shown a penchant for helping turn teams around, posting an overall record of 1,727-1,665 with six playoff appearances.

Coming down on the joie de vivre of guys like Robert when he inevitably dogs it will get him the LaRussa treatment before Robert limps back to the dugout .

I have zero expectations for this franchise, so sure, why not hire another senior citizen willing to take a low paying gig to avoid having to spend his golden years with family?

Family is great in the golden years. Just got to get rid of the wife. But don't procrastinate. Soon as the kids get to college. Leaves you time to bounce back financially. Don't get caught empty nesting with an old boring ass lady. Otherwise you end up like Buck Showalter, begging for a White Sox job.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. Jerry needed the GOAT in any sport to win 6 and almost lost him because he didn't want to pay Jordan.

No excuse for Jordan retiring a Wizasrd! Jerry is a cheap bastard that broke up the 3-peat team and that is how I will remember him.

As compared to all the other owners who won 6 titles in a specific sport who did it without one of the greatest players ever. Care to list off all those owners?

There's the technical issue between acquiring one of the greatest players ever or being gifted one of the greatest players ever. 6 titles huh? Red Auerbach. Halas. Kraft. Buss. Probably a couple more, I dunno. You proudly put Reinsdorf in that crowd? I guess you could. You should. Go ahead.

I'm fine if you think all of those guys are better than Reinsdorf but it's a small list who have 6 rings in one sport, and Kraft seems to be having some trouble with Tom Brady too.

There are a lot of valid criticisms of Reindsdorf especially after 2009 when both his teams fell off a cliff but you can't just waive away 7 titles like they don't count. We don't act like Jordan sucked because of the Wizard years either.

Tom Brady was Kraft's acquisition. Name Reinsdorf's truly great players he acquired in his 40 some odd years. Winners. Clutch. Had longevity as such. I count zero. Sorry Big Hurt. I've seen you in the playoffs.

I have no problem saying that Robert Kraft is a better owner than Reinsdorf. No need to act like I'm saying Reinsdorf is the GOAT.

Just saying, 7 rings is still 7 rings. It's not like the guy who sold the teams that would end up winning 7 rings knew it was going to happen either.

Probably would have 10. There really is no excuse not to be competing for MLB Central titles every year.

The Steve Stone Score visits were pulled six weeks before the season ended. Shame, once insightful SS gave classic stand-up saying Miguel Vargas next Jose Ramirez, White Sox glowing future next Orioles or Royals.

Even Bruce Levine is MIA discussing the "great guy" savior managerial candidates who'll bring certain success.
