Caleb Williams has yet to play a game as good as Justin Fields played last week.

That's objectively wrong, statistically AND the eye test. He had a horrible morale killing fumble and a snap off his face. It's why he can't be named QB1.

By every statistical metric imaginable he has still performed better than Caleb Williams this season.

Yes. His completion avg is up, his rating is up. His turnovers are down.
He has better coaching than what he's used to. At the HC position, for sure.

He has performed better than Caleb despite playing with much worse personnel on the offensive side of the ball.

Williams has 2 games this year with a higher rating than Fields had in any game.
Williams has 3 games with a lower rating than Fields had in any game.

It just so happens that the 2 games Williams has been better than Fields is the last 2 games Williams has played.

So, congrats to Fields for the three games of the start of Williams career where he was outperforming him!

It sounds like the wind was crazy yesterday and Caleb got a lesson in it. He was a Keenan Allen pass break up from a pick 6.

LGBTQ Time Guy: my favorite hot quarterback played marginaly better then a rookie in 1 or 2 games this season. Yay! He/she/xe is so special.

For the Season Fields has 8 Tds and 1 pick. Williams has 5 TDs and 4 picks. It's clear who the better player happens to be

Yeah, Fields took a big lead in the first three games. We'll see if Williams can continue to close the gap like he has in the past two games. Though, Fields may be benched after the next game.

Fields wishes he could be a bumslayer for Pitt. 226 of TOTAL offense for PITT last night

Justin Fields has combined for 8 TDs and 1 interceptiin this season

Caleb Williams 5 TDs and 4 interceptions.

In CFMB land that's still better

I'm often reminded of how they clamored for the immortal Tyson Bagent last season as a testament to their football "acumen"

Clamoring for Tyson Bagent last season was because we all knew Fields wasn't going to become anything other then a good runner. Fields is not a QB1 that will win you playoff games.

Fields has played game manager all year. Stop cherry picking stats to prove your point. It is pathetic attempt to try and prop up Fields. M.Willis is a better game manger QB then Fields. Stop already.

It's "cherry picking" stats to point out that Justin Fields has more touchdowns and fewer ints than Caleb Williams. Since when? Today?

I care less who will be or is the better qb particularly based on these stupid stats used to rate a players production. I am on record of opposing the trade and the trade of Fields. Whether Williams will be or is better than Fields is unknown at this point. I hope Williams will be a good winning qb and frankly i hope Fields will also.. Right now I've got to rate them as both having a good chance at being good. Both have similar skills and neither have a great offensive team in front of them. I'd rate both below average running the ball. The head coach advantage goes to Pittsburgh and the defenses are both good to very good. I see Pittsburgh going to be play-offs and the Bears not likely but possible.

Who cares? One quarterback faced a bad team and the other quarterback faced a play-off caliber team so do you factor any of that ever in your analysis?

BTW, can anyone 100% say that Bagent isn't on a par with both of these guys?

Caleb Williams is continuing the bumslaying tendencies that he exhibited in college I see.

Combined record of the teams that he has defeated thus far:

3-11

Combined record of the teams that Fields has defeated:
8-6

Cautiously optimistic about Caleb, but the true test will come when we get to the division games later this year.

They certainly have given him total control of the offense, he is making all the line calls and he is able to audible, they took a lot of that away from Justin late last year, the organization is taking a totally different approach with Caleb, time will tell if it works.

Reports of Justin Fields demise were greatly exaggerated it appears.

https://www.essentiallysports.com/nfl-a ... r-insider/

Quote:
NFL Insider Albert Breer conveyed the Steelers‘ sentiments on the sports talk show, ‘The Herd‘. As per his information – the team seems to have more faith in the young QB Justin Fields. Breer said, “I do think that they feel there are some limitations to what they can do if they put Russell Wilson out there. And so I think they’re viewing this not only on where the two players are right now, but where they’re going to be in November…, and who’s ultimately going to give them the best chance in January.” Looks like Wilson’s chances of returning as QB1 are very thin.

The Monday Morning Quarterback feels that the Blitzburgh have two options. He explained this as, “They give Russell a shot at it — which they might — they may throw him in there and see what he can do. Justin Fields is going to wind up being the quarterback of the Steelers, whether it’s through not giving Russell the job back or eventually giving the job back to Justin after giving Russell a crack at it.” Looks like the coaching staff has a clear vision

He played trash defenses for 3 weeks straight. He slayed them as he should. That's not an excuse. That's objective truth.

Then he’s bumslayed in a way no other Bears QB has bumslayed, probably ever.

And he’s through six games.
