I was at the Sox/Indians game Wednesday. While in a bathroom, I heard North on the radio with Farmer. North wouldnt shut the F-u-c-k up. It sounded like he was autitioning for the color spot or trying to show how entertaining and insightful he was. He kept repeating how Jose Contreras "dropped down" in his delivery in the first couple of innings when he was wild. Mike "noticed" and "revealed" to the listeners that Jose has never done that before. Has Mike been to Cuba before? Farmer seemed a bit frustrated but Northie would not let up. The guys thinks he's a baseball expert now.

Anyone else hear this nonsense?

Is it really any different than anything else he does now?

I give Mike credit for getting to where he is now, but he really became a huge jerk on the way. Not that he doesn't say hello to people and all that crap. He loves that shit, it's really what he gets paid to do, but where he became a huge jerk is this entitlement he feels to be on every form of Media in the city.

Basically everything he does is focused on the promotion of him and his morning show. Once again, don't blame the guy for selling himself, but if I was him I might go back and work on the product as it really sucks now.

I have seen Rock post on the boards about how hard Mike works, but it really appears he works hard on getting sponsors for Vegas and Hawaii Trips and really not much else that might be considered entertainment,

I would agree he would be better than Singleton on one condition. That he stuck to baseball and not where he went to dinner, who paid for his Cadillac, what Jen is up too, etc etc. THe other problem is that I dont think he knows baseball well enough to keep a thinking fan in the game and give the appropriate background of what is going on. Now i know Singleton doesnt either, but why the f uck cant the Sox/WSCR not play the cheap card and bring in someone who has done some sort of real broadcasting before?

Someone posted this awhile back, but I think Carlton Fisk would have been great in this role. The fact that Farmio and he were contemporaries opens the door for some great stories between the two. Singleton should be broadcasting Birmingham Baron's games. It's obvious this was a money saving hire, and the fans are definitely getting what they paid for.

North may not have the baseball credentials, but Singleton cannot speak - first off, he sounds like he is going through puberty...secondly, there are awkward pauses when he speaks, and lastly, he can't put a sentence together without butchering it.

Singleton may be a smart guy, maybe he's still growing into his role, and it's still early and all that, but he's horrible right now!

This is not to say North should have the job because he shouldn't.....

No need to apoligize. Very funny stuff. I certainly didn't invent parody. I think I just brought the idea for a North parody's to this board. North makes it so easy.

To expand on EG's point. There is no doubt that Singleton knows baseball. His problem, like so many athletes, is that they have no idea how to express their thoughts. Alot of people on this board say that North is good when he just talks sports. I disagree. The guy makes stupid and uniformed sports statements all of the time. I have more respect for some of you on this board then I do for North when it comes to sports.

I think North sucks at everything he does. Better than Singleton? I gave him a shot when he was color mann with the famous Steve Kashul on 16" Softball games on Fox Sports Net. He was brutal. Remember when he did color on some DePaul games a couple of years ago on the Score? BRUTAL!!!

Mike North + ANYTHING + everything = BULLSHIT

The fact that I agree Mike would be better just shows how much I DESPISE the current radio booth. Farmer isn't helping Singleton out though. He's constantly interrupting and talking over him. There have been innings where I don't hear Singleton at all. Pathetic.

Don't forget his drunken Chicago Rush broadcast a few years ago. He actually made me feel sorry for Tom Dore that day. Totally classless and unprofessional.

Any of you guys wishing for North in the Sox radio booth better be pretty goddamn careful what you wish for!

If you think the booth is bad now, put North in there and it's icepick in the ear radio. I am deathly afraid that North is going to be added to the mix in some way, shape, or form. Here's why:

-Reinsdorf is a fan of North.

-North gets whatever he wants from WSCR.

-With all of the negative press and criticism of the booth as it's currently constituted, WSCR and the Sox know a change needs to be made.

-Singleton has a 5 year deal and he's not going anywhere.

-Farmer and Singleton would probably BOTH welcome a third, just to provide a buffer between the 2 of them.

If Mike North gets added to the Sox broadcasting mix, any and all faith I have in human kind will be blown to bits. The decaying corpse of Harry Caray would display more professionalism, courtesy, and class than would Pappy North. Maybe someone should send JR a copy of Pappy's notorious Chicago Rush broadcast  . No one deserves a second chance after that. That shit wouldn't play in Des Moines, it had better not play in Chicago.

While I am not a fan of this broadcast team, I think adding Mike North to it will lead to a disaster of epic proportions.

I don't want Pappy added to the booth, because then the quality of his show might suffer.
