He has shown that he is a very capable back-up in the NFL thus far in his career. He can make a lot of money doing that and his undeniable raw talent will always draw interest from GM's. He's a candidate to have a career resurgence at some point like Geno Smith.

I think this benching could be good for him. I've always thought he was holding himself back. This could humble him enough to fix the areas of his game that needs work.

Maybe this offseason he learns to throw.

I thought he would try this offseason to improve his processing. He still believed his own hype.

Can one improve processing?

It may be announcer bullshit, but I do think Fields not trusting “NFL open” may be a thing. Russ threw up some (not even) NFL open passes to Pickens and he got rewarded.

It is definitely real, just like throwing to receivers going thru zone defenses before they get to the next window.

Hasnt Russell Wilson done this same thing his entire career where he throws up these Moon balls and let his receivers fight? Everyone’s acting like what he did Sunday is some sort of anomaly . He throws guys open and he lets his receivers fight one on one battles. I don’t think there’s anything different than he’s done since he’s been in the league.

I think we should refer to him as Super Bowl Winning QB Russell Wilson.

You've got to love how the gurus around here are suddenly "all in" on Russell Wilson. The very same Russell Wilson who was paid to leave 8 months ago. The very same Russell Wilson who was booed in the very same game that everyone now says he played "great" in.

The same Russell Wilson who was so terrible last year that they paid him to leave yet Justin Fields has never even approached the numbers that terrible Russell Wilson had last year.

Wilson isn't very good. He's better than Fields though. Mike Tomlin agrees.

The Bears made the right call on moving on from Fields. The Steelers seemingly don't see a future for Fields in Pittsburgh either. They declined the team option. They just benched him even as the team was winning. It's over. It's undeniable that the Bears sticking with Fields, giving him a massive contract, and hoping he learns how to throw was a terrible plan.

I wouldn't mind if Fields bounces around the league and finds a way to turn himself into a good quarterback like Geno Smith did. I'm just glad the Bears don't have to wait years for it to happen.

You've facilitated from saying Justin Fields wasn't good in the summer, to knowing that he was better than Caleb Williams as a 4th year player, back to knowing that he wasn't really good in a matter of weeks. Can we say "lack of credibility" here?

Justin Fields isn't very good. Williams had a VERY rough start especially his first two games. That's common for a rookie. The fact that it seemingly took him three whole games to become at worst an average starting QB is actually a great sign. A 4th year quarterback should be far better than a rookie. You don't even need to be a football fan to understand that concept. It's true of all sports.

You said facilitated when it would seem Rick had 'vacillated'. I don't know about "lack of credibility", but definitely a "lack of vocabulary".

Yup, Justin will make a great living as a backup QB, no need to fret about Mitch or Justin, they never earned the franchise QB second payday, but making $3-5 million a year for five years as a backup is not a bad gig.

Justin will forever frustrate coaches, he would likely win if you held a QB Decathalon, but he is a half second to a second slow in his drops and with his reads which limits him in the passing game. He also tends to leak laterally in the pocket rather than step up, this causes him to only see half the field.

Wilson just went to his big WR against man coverage and threw an accurate enough ball to give him a chance, those balls sail five yards out of bound when Fields is the QB.

Ask yourself, if PITT is "all in" on a washed up Russell Wilson what that says after 6 games of J.Fields. Why would PITT not stick with the young, talented QB and go with Wilson? Why did Wilson have success throwing the football, but Fields did not. Why do they trust Wilson to run play action, but not Fields?

hmmm, I wonder why the Bears only got a 6rnd pick for Fields while other teams looking for starters passed on Fields for Darnold and Minshew. Why didn't the Raiders want Fields? Surely they needed a QB to throw to Adams to keep him happy. Why wasn't Pickens happy with Fields and balled out for Wilson?

hmmm, I wonder why the entire league passed on Fields as a starter and it took a calf injury from a washed up Wilson for him to start. hmmm, why is that?

Hmmm. I've got a couple of hundred laying around which says that Justin Fields will sign somewhere to be a team's starting QB next year. What say you? Just Asking A Question

There is always a stupid franchise like Panthers or Browns who think like you and may sign him. Lots of stupid in the NFL.

Since Wilson is the guy throwing severely underthrown wounded ducks, it's "Moon balls. He's done it his whole career". If anyone else does it, "they're washed". Just because Justin Fields sucks doesn't mean Russell Wilson is good.

I was as surprised as the next guy the arm was that diminished. If he gets the job done Peyton Manning-style, fine. I'll praise him.

I was never a Wilson fan, so I probably have a unique perspective. Outside of mobility, he looked like the "lucky" guy he's always been to me.

No, I believe there are stupid owners like you in the NFL. Do I think it is going to happen, no. Could it happen, yes and I won't let a desperate Browns team take my money and give it to you.

I'd be willing to post a Justin Field's avatar for a year if you will post a Caleb Williams avatar for a year type bet.

If Fields is signed to be the starter day 1 of the NFL season (not a competition between two QB's, but the actual named starter) I will post his avatar for the year. If he's not named the clear cut starter when signed than you have to post Caleb Willieams avatar for a year.

A NFL sideline down and out is out of the playbook. At this point I have to disclose I don't remember prime Wilson's arm strength but I would like to think I would remember THIS type of arm strength. I can say semi-confidently Bagent's arm is stronger.

You stupidly make claims that you don't believe. The "CFMB way" troll on like most of the other dupes who say dumbshit like "he's not a starter" yet are scared as shit to "BET DA BREAD". Which means you don't believe any of the stupid shit that you have been spewing for MONTHS!

A NFL sideline down and out is out of the playbook. At this point I have to disclose I don't remember prime Wilson's arm strength but I would like to think I would remember THIS type of arm strength. I can say semi-confidently Bagent's arm is stronger.

If they don't pull Wilson by years end and replace him with Fields I'd be shocked. I watched him in the preseason and his arm looked shot then.
