I don’t care for it but if he is there to totally look at offense and advise where he sees weaknesses, I could by in. I don’t want our brand new defensive coordinator looking over his shoulder, they are just fine. You promise that, I am good.

There’s no doubt that MLF would have hired Saleh as a DC if he were available earlier in the year (and I would have loved it). Your boss hires his best friend and defensive specialist as a “consultant”…Hafley has to be looking over his shoulder, which feels a bit unfair.

He hasn’t been hired to any official position. He is staying at Lafleurs until Thursday. Dude probably wanted time away from the wife and kids, doesn’t know what to do with himself.

Not a bad guy to have milling around practice as long as he leaves the D alone......for the most part. I think his greatest value is to game plan against the Packers offense so they can proactively clean some stuff up. The D belongs to Haf and Haf alone so the only thing I would entertain him doing with them is helping light a fire under the edge rushers. Gary was better last week but LVN has been a ghost after pre season.

There was a story earlier in the year about how colleges like Alabama had a college of coaches who were not necessarily doing day to day coaching of players but were, essentially advance scouts and self scouting consultants. It seemed to work well for them

Didn't Eberflus hire someone to do something similar last year? I believe he's still employed.

Saban has done that for years with coaches that were fired.

Hafley keeps this up and he's gonna get a HC gig as soon as this offseason, I doubt he's worried about Saleh hanging around.

Apparently I’m less impressed than you. Certainly the significant increase in turnovers is huge, but the pass rush is mediocre and the interior rush defense regularly gets shredded by any decent rb. Everything I read going into the season pointed toward Hafley’s scheme being a boon for guys like Gary and Clark, but the results say otherwise. Smith and Van Ness have been invisible. Gute’s signing of McKinney and the return of Jaire are bigger factors in the wins than Hafley’s coaching imo.

You are tough, the last 2 weeks alone against Murray and Stroud were awesome, they completely shut down their passing games.

Their rush defense is 15th in dvoa I believe. The edge guys not winning 1 on 1s has been frustrating, not sure that's Hafley's fault though. Still, the defense this year is a night and day difference compared to what we have seen the last few years, and I think it's reasonable to expect improvement as the season goes along with it being a new scheme with a lot of young guys.

Last week's gameplan was an absolute clinic from Hafley. Had Stroud in a blender the entire day. Hard to be anything but very impressed with that. Hopefully they keep it going this week against a poorly coached Jax team.

For the record, I'm not anti-Hafley. I just want the D to excel; and while they are clearly better than they were in the last few years I expect a bit more from the line-up that appeared to be loaded (on paper) going into the season. It's obviously not all on him, but I'm not convinced that this is a deep play-off level D either.

you have a perfect chance to recollect your thoughts, re evaluate your career and get closer to your young family while being paid millions of dollars but you decide taking a job in GB at mid season was the way to go

There is a man who is in need of some consultation.

Between the safety position and the additions at inside linebacker and Nixon’s ability to play outside have all been huge.

that's a bad excuse for lacking perspective. He'll have a line of suitors to be a DC in three months

What Hawg said.

He'll be just fine as a DC somewhere next year.

Packers are 6-2 and basically our backup quarterback has played for 2 and a half games. If you don’t believe in Gute and LaFleur you are football dumb.

Sorry, but I get a little fed up with grunts, sighs, Go Pack, and "Golly, I hope Love heals up."

There's some sports acumen in you somewhere.
