Now where they have to be faulted is for ignoring the OL in the meantime. That is the biggest issue and the main reason why Poles should be given a short leash on this build.
I think what we’re learning right now is that coaching matters. Obviously ignoring the O-line hurts too.. but we’ve had bad coaching since Trestman and it kills so much of the team.
And Poles has to eat this one -he could have rightly launched Eberflus at the end of the Fields campaign, a campaign which proved he couldn’t develop a QB. But.. he hitched his wagon to him and looked at all these other OC’s this past offseason and settled for Waldron when the world was their oyster.
So far we know a few things about Poles -he can’t identify coaching talent, can’t seem to identify O-line talent, and he’s willing to over pay for things when he doesn’t need to. None of those things are assets to being a successful GM
Yeah I am definitely leaning in that direction as well. They did play hard for Flus last year and I understand kind of why they gave him another year. But it seems more and more clear they should have started with a clean slate of coaches and QB. Now if things continue to go bad they will have to launch Flus at end of year and Williams will have to start over with another staff and that will not be good for his development. And can we trust Poles to make a good hire this time around?
Frustrating.
