To me you just let this thing play out, it actually gets more chaotic if you let a bunch of assistants and position coaches try to run this thing halfway thru the season.

Of course, the closer to the end of the year it gets, the less impact an ‘early’ firing will have. So letting him go with only a couple games left would make more sense than doing it now.

The problem for me here is that I have absolutely no trust in Poles/Warren fixing this garbage fire. They both decided after watching all of last year that they had seen enough to run it back risking the future of not only the ‘franchise’ rookie QB, but their futures as well hitching themselves to this moron for several more years. Everything about Flus being bad was right there beating them over the head and they still passed on resetting it all. Just utter stupidity and incompetence. It’s unforgivable, and definitely a sign that they have no idea what they’re doing.

I’ll continue to say this until it ends with him being gone: Poles is a fraud and a con man who is in way over his head. He should never have been given an opportunity to be a GM.

The biggest mistake which Poles made was not trading his #1 overall pick and getting a "major haul". Particularly given the fact that this team was in "win now" and not "rebuilding" mode. The second worst thing that he did was to trade a "starting caliber quarterback" for a 6th rd pick. Or basically nothing. And the third worst thing that he did was to keep the pick anoint the kid the starter, and fail to sign a Quality backup to back the kid up. Tyson Bagent isn't that.

They have to roll with Caleb come hell or high water at this point and hope for the best. They never should have gone "all in" while they are in "win now" mode with a kid so unproven. Jt made no sense from the beginning.

As hard as this is to say, Ltg is pretty much correct on his analysis about the current situation of the Bear's

Ryan Poles is on the verge of one of the most spectacular GM failures in recent history. He had tons of resources, lucked into the #1 pick twice, had a ton of cap space, but he has built a roster that as a previous poster pointed out, is more suited for a 7 on 7 summer passing league than the NFL.

There is a very real possibility that this team will lose the rest of the games on the schedule, if that does happen, or if they only win one or two more games you almost have to blow it up, how can you bring back the same group that has squandered so many resources? Do you trust Poles to rebuild the line of scrimmage when all he has shown is a fetish for WR's and DB's?

You have a group of highly paid vets that have quit on the current HC and have taken advantage of the soft culture, they also realize how bad the coaching staff is at coaching NFL football.

Your rookie QB who claimed he does not get nervous, looks terrified and rattled, the kid is tissue paper soft mentally and mom and dad can't pull him from the team and move him to Florida so he can play with all the other superstars at IMG Academy.

It was obviously a monumental mistake to not give the kid a vet center who could at least help him make the line calls, he looks lost at the line of scrimmage as he tries to figure out where the grown ass man that is coming to take his head off is coming from, simplify the game plan, tell him to run what is called for at least a series.

The biggest miscalculation was with Caleb Williams himself. This kid is much closer to bust status at this point than he is "franchise QB". And the worst part about his shitty performance early is that it came against shitty teams for the most part.
And I just watched him look worse than a kid with fewer starts than him, who was playing with worst talent than him, and who was billed to be a much lesser talent than him. By the looks of things this franchise is screwed for the foreseeable future.

Sounds like we have found some common ground in Poles being a terrible decision maker and the wrong guy for the job. Even if we differ on the details.

I said the exact same thing in the spring and summer when everyone believed it to be "a great thing" that he drafted Caleb Williams however. Which is where we disagree. The drafting of Caleb Williams (more than anything else) is the primary reason he should get whacked. He placed all of his chips (Hey Retard Ya Here?) In the middle of the table for this kid and it looks like a colossal failure at this point. For that alone he should be shitcanned!

I’ve essentially been out on Poles since the Claypool trade. It’s the little things that kill.

But yet you were clearly all in with him on the decision to draft Caleb. Which appears to be his most fireable offense to date.

And we don’t agree on this point, we’ve argued enough about Caleb. I know where you stand, you know where I stand. Calebs story hasn’t been written yet, let’s see where he’s at after a couple of seasons.

To me his most fireable offense is keeping Eberflus after last season ended.

I wasn’t out on Mitch until season 3, and I wasn’t out on Justin until season 3. I’m not going to be out on Caleb after his rookie year.

You have no shortage of other posters to argue with over the Caleb topic.

But yeah, Poles sucks

He actually was building a solid foundation until he drafted Caleb Williams. That move is what's going to be his death knell. And it can't be let's not "discuss Caleb" coincidentally once he happens to be shitting the bed. Particularly when it was just but a month ago when you along with everyone else was loading up at the bat rack simply because he balled out on shitty teams. Caleb is the most important part of the Poles story. He whacked his OC simply because he couldn't "unlock" him. We aren't getting away from this so easily. Nope.

Dr Styles is just regurgitating Laurence Holmes talking points from 2023. So glad I cut the cord on bad 670 bears talk ages ago.

The solid foundation part is a complete lie, he didn’t have a quarterback, which is basic fundamentals of a solid foundation.

Nah yes he did and he trades him. And by the way your guy ain't looking all that hot right now is he?
Trade the pick and he has a double digit win team this season. It was right there for him and he blew it.

So you are saying that a guy that got traded for a 6th round pick, has been benched because after 6 games they had the 28th ranked passing offense. Thats your solid foundation?

It's remarkable to me how you cling to a qb who flat out sucked ass on two teams. If Fields is good, why isn't he good?

You mean the dude that is 8-4 in his last 12 games? You bet I am. When Jordan Love wins like that you get a Hall Of Fame bust for him

No. You don't seem to understand, even when he plays well theres no point in discussing him with you. I know where you stand with him.

We discussed him plenty after the Titans and Texans game, so it hasn't been only when he's played well. Its been a mixture. Theres no point in you regurgitating your points post after post. When you have something new to say on the topic, maybe -but theres nothing new here.

JLN exposing you as a Fields cultist adds quite a bit of context to your current positions: 'Nothing that went wrong while Justin was here was his fault, everything thats gone wrong since then is Calebs fault'. And thats it. Thats all there really is to you. Not really all that complex.

You are the same dude who shot down each and every dissenting opinion regarding Caleb Williams this past summer. One of the very same guys (and there were quite a few around here) who knew he'd be great after watching him bumslay shitty teams while he was in college. Each and every time someone deviated from CFMB consensus, guys like you were right there for ya to proclaim that no one knew anything.
For the past 10 weeks I've watched everyone from the concession stand guy to the ghost of Michael McCaskey get blamed for Caleb's troubles. Everyone except Caleb of course.

The primary reason that the Bears suck is because Caleb sucks. They have a solid roster and a shitty QB. That is where Poles made his mistake. He rode the wrong and now he's going to have to pay for it.

As far as Justin Fields goes it's embarrassing that he (a backup) is decidedly better than our starter. Which is the most shameful thing in all of this.

And here is the thing with Ryan Poles. The main reason that there is now a drum beat to get him whacked is because it appears that he "whiffed" on the #1 overall pick. Which I tried to tell guys like you that you cannot whiff on. He looks extremely incompetent now because he currently drafted what appears to be the worst of the 4 rookie QBs who happen to be starting. That's why people are calling for his head these days. People are pissed that he drafted Caleb Williams.

When lunacy begets lunacy. Justin Fields entered the 2023 season as a legitimate MVP candidate. Vegas Prognosticators were also part of the "Fields Cult" apparently

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has the 11th best odds at +1800 to win the 2023 NFL MVP Award.
BetMGM gives the latest update on Fields getting a lot of attention with betters this offseason.

Lastly, Bears QB Justin Fields is receiving a lot of buzz this offseason after his ridiculous 2022 season. The 24-year-old has the third-highest ticket percentage (9.3), which is higher than former MVPs Lamar Jackson (8.9) and Patrick Mahomes (8.7). However, Fields is only receiving 8.4 percent of the handle. The young dual-threat quarterback completed 60.4 percent of his passes for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 2022. He also had an incredible year on the ground, totaling 1,143 yards and eight scores. It was one of the surprise stories of last season, leaving bettors to think Fields could take another leap this season.

Fields' MVP odds opened up at +3000 and have quickly moved to +1800 ahead of training camp. With such a big shift, bettors might feel pressured to place a wager on the young QB. However, the best move is to wait and see how training camp and preseason go for Fields. The Bears added D.J. Moore to their wide receiver unit, which should help Fields' passing numbers. That being said, the jury is still out on the young quarterback and if his performance last season was a flash in the pan. Fields is uber-talented and plays in a division that many believe is up for grabs, making him a trendy MVP pick.

This should be a fun season for Bears fans as Fields should take the next step in his maturation process as a future star with standout receiver DJ Moore running routes for him in 2023.

So you are saying that a guy that got traded for a 6th round pick, has been benched because after 6 games they had the 28th ranked passing offense. Thats your solid foundation?

You mean the dude that is 8-4 in his last 12 games? You bet I am. When Jordan Love wins like that you get a Hall Of Fame bust for him

Fields is 8-4. His record in Chicago was what?

That's why the Bears got rid of Fields.

When Lunacy begets Lunacy. The Bears were obviously tanking during 2 of his seasons. Which makes it silly to discuss "records" . And by the time this season ends the Bears will have a worst record this season than they did last season. Despite "massive upgrades" in talent.

He was 5-8 last year.

Wins is not a stat that works for Fields in any way.

He is 9-5 over his last 14 games. Which obviously is a win stat that "works for him"

And again the Bears will have a worse record this year than they did last season. Despite "massive upgrades" in talent.

That might be taking a bit too far, but I think there are several other QB's who are as good a coin flip as Williams to be in the HOF.
That just isn't true. Drake Maye is the only one with even close to the same odds of being a great NFL QB. That's why they are clearly the top 2 quarterbacks.

Just because Bo Nix or Penix or JJ McCarthy has a non-zero chance of being a HOF QB doesn't mean that Williams doesn't have a higher chance of being a HOF QB.

We are talking about if the Bears were right to get rid of him. 5-8 was his record in the year they weren't "trying to lose".

The W-L record with the Bears doesn't include wins with the Steelers.
