Is he just shitting himself constantly? Or is the implication that Leery gets PMS from diarrhea?

Sounds like he has more problems holding back than we thought.

Yesterday Laurence broke down his daily routine for us and what's changed now that he's on afternoons.

He said he spends an hour and a half at the gym. But he didn't say what he does there. Clearly it is something other than working out.

Someone didn't tell him you can't just drink the protein shakes, you still have to work out.

In case you were wondering, Uncle Rico Holmes was the QB of his freshman intramural football team and they won the championship!

I actually was saddened that he didn't even play HS baseball. It's a bit of stolen valor and I am not amused.

I recall somebody saying he didn't play varsity baseball. Glad I'm wrong.

It wasn't that, it was that DePaul was a club team.

I'm glad we dispelled that rumor. It would have shaken the core of my beliefs.

DePaul doesn't even have a baseball field. I was there when Holmes was there and never heard of a DePaul baseball team.

I agree, this cannot be true, this would mean that nearly everything that Larry Holmes has told us over the years has been a total lie.

It seems he has felt the need to create a comic book character type backstory for himself, or is his comic book acumen a lie as well.

Was he playing some sort of intramural ball at a local park?

I understood his college baseball career. It's not playing in high school that would have made me readjust my entire belief system.

I've detailed before that when I was in high school, I played on a summer team with guys who played for Loyola U. Loyola U was a club team as well and DePaul U was their primary rival. I was a decent player, but hardly anything great in high school but I was easily better than these guys even though they were several years older. That is how I contextualize Sir's college experience. There are some colleges that field high end club teams. Some of the big schools have a club team for people who are very good but not D1 level good. De Paul was not that type of team.

On the other hand, Sir and I are fairly contemporary and I remember H-F as being pretty good at baseball. So, I think he can probably play a bit and was among the best on his college's low level club team.

The fact that this thread is getting more interest than a thread discussing any actual original content that Larry has provided speaks volumes about his performance.

Seems Larry, Bernstein, and Zaidman, all reached their ceilings in the Bears Hit (two words) reporter role.

I'll tell you one thing for sure. The biggest sport to play at DePaul for non scholarship athletes was pick up basketball at Alumni Hall and Hayes Healy. Anyone who was at the school who played sports would show up for the pick up games. I was out there 3 hours per day 6-7 days per week from early 90s through 98ish and never once say Sir.

As for undergrad, I clocked in at a smooth 6 years (5 schools).

haven't caught much of the drive time show since Parkins left but man, Larry has not let up on [BIG SLOW SERIOUS VOICE] [totally mundane thought] stuff. That more than anything is what grates on me. too bad, I'd still listen to Spiegs but any time I spend with sports talk is ESPN. Never thought I'd say that, couldn't even get the station out here back in the day.

HF has all the yearbooks from his era online. A quick search of 90,91,92,93 show nothing involving Holmes and baseball at HF. Maybe he missed picture day all four years?

Granted I work with a guy who claims he was drafted by an MLB team (didn't happen, not in the online database) and a lady who played on a state championship soccer team (not listed on the IHSA roster).
