So.....it was all a lie?

He certainly has gone to great lengths over the years to fabricate an elaborate back story, but at least we know that his high school years were spent developing some solid credentials for a future as a comic book nerd.

That really is something for him to have lied like this if he did. Next we will learn Bernsie can't turn on a 85mph fastball.

Has he specifically said he played for the team at HF? Or has he just inferred what was likely some park district house league in the summer if he played.

I don't recall exact words. He definitely would say he played club at college and had an Expos try out of some degree.

I basically invented the whole transfer every year and stay in school for 20 years model of today, I just forgot to get paid for it.

Yep he has said these things multiple times. I dont recall him saying exactly that he played at HF, but it has definitely been inferred over the years. Was there such a thing as intermural baseball in those days maybe? I bet it is something like that.

Back in those days, it was High School Baseball or nothing. Travel ball was nothing it is today, if he didn't play on HS team he was nothing. The Expos and Marlins used to advertise "tryouts" in the tribune and sun-times, anyone could attend. If he was so great at baseball, he would be the best on the WSCR softball team, which we've been told he is not. Guy is a story teller!

Leery lying about playing high school baseball is starting to make me think he’s not the alpha I’d built him up to be.

he joined a frat at DePaul which should really tell you all you need to about him. Frats at DePaul each had these little dog house type set ups on table at the far end of the cafeteria. No actual house anywhere. They had no social presence. There were no sororities. Looked like the frats had about 15 people in them max.

We are happy to serve you the fan on days like today-holiday or not!

I get that MANY are off work but since when is the Friday after Thanksgiving a designated holiday? Stock market was open and there was mail delivery.

I heard Laurence talking about how he was going to use being called into work on a holiday as leverage for Mitch to comp him some DePaul tickets. I heard DePaul is better than they've been in recent years, but still, doesn't he work at the university? Couldn't he just ask them for tickets whenever he wanted them?

Let us all hope that it is just a starter and it doesn’t sink in.

I told the story here years ago and felt bad about it and deleted it. It was about the ugly and homely girls that him and Abbatacola used to invite to their parties.

I like Tall Tale guys. Just don't do business with them. Him being a martyr about working on a working day is pretty cool. Stealing baseball valor is a bit much though.

It’s like getting comped White Sox tickets. Saved a whole twelve dollars, I’d rather get a free hot dog.

Larry has been saying a lot of things like this lately. He must be feeling sentimental about his family. He talks often of "his little father" who is a academic person and not a sports person, but thankfully he has Larry there to explain everything sports.

Yet on an even bigger Bears day he was nowhere to be found. On the other hand Micah Materre, Jarrett Payton and others were all working on a BIG news day.

im sure we'll get a riveting tale of where he was and what he was doing when he saw the news break and how disappointed he was that he couldnt be there to talk about with "ya'll"
