Sad! Thank God there's a playoff system where you get in playing Grandma's Kindergarden but once you get there, you BECOME Grandma's Kindergarden.

No one is ever going to say, "Damn, we drew Notre Dame."

Love it. Soft bigotry of low expectations.

Good strategic loss today by the Hoosiers.

Demolish Purdue next week, don’t have to get beat up in a title game, go into the playoffs rested.

IU gonna be on the outside looking in out of committee reverence for the regular season.

So you think they purposely lost that game?

Most projections I’ve seen had them on the outside looking in with a loss tonight.

You are saying they lost on purpose?

Of course not, that’s not the point.

If we assume that Oregon wins the Big 10 title game, then it was more advantageous for Indiana/Ohio St. to lose today. Why play an extra game for nothing?

Moreso to this point, Oregon has one game left vs Washington. If you looked at it from a purely strategic standpoint, the smartest thing Oregon could do would be to forfeit vs Washington and go into the title game healthy and rested.

Like I said, great loss by Tennessee, beat Vandy next week and the go into the playoffs rested when they play a rested Indiana team in the first round.

Your point is horrendously bad. IU beating OSU would have been good for IU for about 100 reasons.

The door is now open for the SEC teams to point out IU paid $1 million this year to get out of the Louisville game to schedule an easy home win.

Some fans of the University of Kansas were a bit lemony the Jayhawks scored 4 touchdowns and kicked 3 FG's yesterday in Arrowhead on the way to buffaloing Colorado 37-21 without punting a single time.

It was a bad loss for Indiana. There’s no strategic benefit to getting clowned, humiliated and roasted by Ohio State fans while also getting clobbered so badly that you have to even yourself doubt if you were ever any good to begin with.

But with basically everyone else, save Penn State, who they needed to lose yesterday losing they are very well alive. Probably still likely. They shouldn’t be, but who do you put in ahead of them? The third place team in the ACC or Big 12? A three or even four-loss SEC team?

They don’t deserve it but they will probably get it unless they crater against Purdue next week.

5 conference champs
Boise State
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Penn State
At least two, probably three more SEC teams

I think Indiana is fighting for the 12th spot at best.

Well you are counting Boise State twice. The autobids right now are SEC, B1G, ACC, Big 12 and MWC.

It is also entirely possible that the fourth ranked team in the SEC is a four-loss team. Or that team is Missouri, who has no standing to be in at all. So realistically there are at least two, probably more like three, spots very much up for grabs with nobody yet making a much better case than Indiana.

I got it, CFP should borrow from the NBA and NCAA March Madness and have play-in games. Image

As far as anyone can tea-leaf-read discern, CFP is not a power ranking. The committee uses a formula which superficially weights W-L record uber alles; and then takes into consideration marketability of the program and how much of a draw they'd be in the tournament; looking to sos or power ranking type factors only to break ties between similarly situated teams in terms of w-l and bank-ability.

Yeah my bad on Boise State.

As of today, I’d have Indiana in a 4-5 team blob of potential last picks, none of whom are that differentiated from the other. At that point it becomes a conference argument to me.

If getting blown out in Columbus to the #2 team in the country for your first loss is disqualifying, then scoring three points against an unranked Oklahoma team for a third loss should be all she wrote too.

Three losses ought to be but they have quality wins on their resume and Indiana doesn’t.

SEC will try to play those losses this weekend as evidence of the strength of their conference. They aren't
