And the Bears still lost because he took sacks instead of throwing it away, threw it at Allen like he's 10 feet tall, and ignored Swift over the middle a couple of times late for easy first downs. The stats don't tell the whole story.

Bears haven't won a game since you made this statement Or to be more specific. Since the thread was started.

Ok, so if Fields somehow has a career day and passes for 2TD and 150 yards, he is still a career loser in your opinion.

Got it!

I beg to differ. Very few teams are going to win games in which they score all of 10 at the 8 minute mark..And as stated previously. The only time a Caleb Williams offense seems to ever show up is when the Bears play bum ass teams

Williams is not why they lost. There's not much else to be said.

Caleb threw for 340 and 2 TDs against a team that was 8-2. That's not bumslaying. Bear in mind that Radio was over the moon about the performance of Justin Fields against the Colts...in a loss.

I misread. Yards. 11th in passer rating, 6th in QBR. Against a top ten defense.

So yeah, I'll take the moral victory. Three more spots up and he catches Justin Fields on the year. That will be a substantial victory if he beats Fields this year in his rookie year with a sub par team.
A game anywhere near his last two weeks should put him past Fields. Then "pretty quickly" becomes your nightmare.

Aren't you the guy who wants to discount stat totals because you make believe the context renders them meaningless, as well as criticize Caleb for hypothetical miscues?

Nah it’s just a perfect encapsulation of the absurdity surrounding Caleb Williams this week that people are touting his league-best quarterback rating when the reality is that his rating was lower than his opponent.

It’s clearly rubbed off on Caleb btw. He’s now referring to himself as “Superman” in the midst of a five game losing streak. He reads all this bullshit in the media and online.

Did Caleb Williams play well yesterday? Has he played well in any game this year? How many total games has he played well?

Was he better than Sam Darnold? Obviously not. Is he better than any of the other three rookie quarterbacks currently seeing playing time? Obviously not. Are the Bears winning any fucking games with him at quarterback?

But yeah whatever he’s “Superman”, what a joke this is becoming already.

I'm not a Caleb whackjob. I advocated for 'build the team and then wait for a QB to show up'. Seattle is in 1st. Minnesota is 2nd only because they are in the same division as the best team in football. Tampa has a helluva QB. I could go on. I've always been a "there's more than one way to skin a cat" guy. Point is QB is an ungodly craft to learn in a short period of time.

There's little reason to pull against the kid. He's here. A whackjob is somebody who cares more about being right than rooting for a kid learning the hardest job in sports. He's got two solid games against good teams. Of course that's not near enough data. Nor is there near enough data that he blows.

Here’s a question: what happens if Carter doesn’t have that big kick return? What’s your final score if Caleb Williams actually has to drive the length of the field?

I root against him because I don’t like him. I don’t like him because he’s still being an arrogant idiot, referring to himself as Superman and generally believing his own hype despite this season being a truly unmitigated disaster. Exactly what he was at USC, he’s such a cancer. You can never win with a guy like this, and sure enough the Bears aren’t winning.

You can just answer the question. Has Caleb Williams ever played a good game in the NFL?

Two can play at the “obstinately demand answers to questions like Karen at the checkout counter” routine.

He's a kid. Failure is the best teacher for resilience and self awareness, amongst other things. It's a huge win if he learns just those two things. I'm pretty confident he won't be spouting bullshit in the off season. And I hope he climbs the ladder statistically to finish off the season. Because I'm not a whackjob despite not wanting him at #1.
