This just isn’t a way to win football games. It’s not like the Bears one boneheaded coaching decision in the final moments away from competing for the NFC North. They have looked like the worse team in every single game they’ve played this year since they got home from London.

They weren’t really lucky against GB or Detroit. I’ll give you Vikings.

Detroit lost its entire defense to injury over the course of the game. Had they stayed healthy the Bears were on the road to shutoutsville.

Which in an ironic twist considering this thread , Pittsburgh played Dallas earlier this year with Dallas having multiple defensive starters injured and out and the great Justin Fields managed to put 17 points up against them and threw for 131 yards despite getting 3 extra possessions via turnovers and was lauded as having done enough to win the game because the Steelers gave up a TD on Dallas final drive .

Also it’s irrelevant. Teams get injured. The Bears’ garbage oline was a mash unit.

Detroit losing a backup DT for a couple quarters didn’t dictate the second half.

That’s a bit of a change in tune.

How so?

You proclaimed previously that he would be top 15 and likely top 10. I suppose you could argue that 15th is league average, but the original phrasing and context implies better than that.

15th is league average. Well, technically 16th but whatever. Change it to top 16.

I think when people say “average” they really mean on the good side of a binary scale between acceptable and not acceptable. Some years that’s twenty guys, some years it’s ten…I don’t know with Brick or any of these Bears fans. The metric changes week by week to justify this ridiculous blind faith in a total loser.

Average starting QB leaves very little for debate.

Would you agree that when you wrote the original post you believed he would be better than league average?

No. It's not a hard concept. League average starter = around 15th. Though, I guess the NFL now has 32 teams so make it 16.

I thought I’d give you an out, but after all this time I should know better.

This is not false, but they are four boneheaded coaching decisions from being 8-4. They could have been a poor man's 2001 Bears, who also vastly overachieved thanks to a series of strange occurrences and then got their shit kicked in once the playoffs started. Would it have done the Bears any good in the grand scheme of things to get a playoff game against the Falcons and probably lose? I don't think so, but when you've had six playoff appearances in the last 30 years and are begging for a taxpayer bailout, it's better than nothing, and maybe they beat the Falcons, who knows.

An out? League average starter and top 15 QB are virtually the same. This isn't worth arguing. Just accept it.

Hey McCarver. Point me in the direction where you believed that the Bears would be 4-8 after 12 games?

It took Caleb 11 games to generate the sort of offense that Justin Fields generated in 6. Justin Fields generated 25 TDs with a shitty supporting cast. Caleb Williams will not reach that total despite playing with a far superior talent.

Why is Field's stat's stopped at 6 game's? Did something happen?

You've expended a lot of energy telling us Fields is an OK quarterback. It'd be like me wasting a 100 pages extolling the virtues of Scott Podsednik. At least he's handsome and has the quirk of jogging like he's got a corn cob up his ass. As much as I love him, the 20,000 ft view is he's just a guy. Just like Justin, he's just a guy who happened to do a couple remarkable things. #2005MVP

I expended a little energy to illustrate that the Bears would be a helluva lot better with Justin Fields at QB. Mission Accomplished!

It's clear that he is better than Caleb. Which was the original point. And as stated previously..Anyone that believes that their Bears would be 4-8 with Justin Fields as there QB right now is essentially an idi*t

"I have proven that in the hypothetical season where Justin Fields QBs for the 2024 Chicago Bears, his hypothetical team would have a better record than the Bears do in our current universe! All you Caleb fans are in Fantasyland!"

LTG loves Justin Fields so much he wants to take him to vacation in Arkansas.

It's in no way clear. The Bears have gotten flashes of brilliance in losing efforts from both of them. I don't care what Fields did with the Steelers; the Steelers are a non-dipshit organization and he barely plays anymore anyway.

What is for certain is that they would be better with Bo Nix, Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye. They picked the wrong guy, and they picked him first overall.

I'm leaning to 'they picked the wrong guy', I was a Bo Nix guy but was told he was an old man who's ceiling has already been reached. Caleb's ceiling is Mayfield, a damn good QB, but not anywhere near generational. That was always a pipe dream.

LTG loves Justin Fields so much he wants to take him to vacation in Arkansas.

Be mindful that this creep is currently cheerleading for a 100 year woman to die because he disagrees with how she runs her sports franchise
