Man I don’t know what Detroit was after they piled up as many injuries as they did in this game, but the defense the Bears played in the first half and had like fifteen yards of total offense against was a lot different than the one they faced in the second half.

The offense was controlling the ball and the Lions’ D was bailed out by the refs in the first half. When the Bears’ D stiffened up in the second half and TOP normalized, things got back to normal.

Plus for some reason the Bears are coached to always suck on offense in the first half.

The three and outs are brutal. I didn’t love the first OPI on Kmet - looked to be on the line from the one replay CBS showed - but they got behind the downs and stayed behind the first couple drives. The obvious PI the refs ignored on the Swift wheel was significant.

Whatever referee complaints you have are invalidated by the 4th and 14 call. I didn’t watch this game as intently as I usually do because I was with family on the holiday, but that flag was so egregious and at such a critical juncture I cannot imagine anything that happened before could outweigh it.

I’ve tried finding a replay of the Vildor call and haven’t seen a single one covering him & Moore. All I’ve seen is an angle with the ref throwing the flag around the time Vildor passes Moore and the tv coverage that showed Moore complaining at that same moment.

Point being, there’s nothing out there that would suggest it was an egregious call.

Didnt Romo say when they were discussing it that the reason it was uncatchable was because he was being interfered with ?

Not for nothing, but I don't think Nantz had a good game, either. I was doing dishes so I couldn't be totally sure but I think at least once or twice Nantz blurted out "Campbell" when trying to describe Caleb Williams dropping back to pass or throwing the ball. He even caught himself once and we got to hear as Caleb dropped back to pass: "Campbell.....brings the blitz and Williams..."

He also used a short E pronouncing Eberflus, seemed to realize his error, corrected it in the next sentence and proceeded to call him “Coach E” for the next several drives.

Fact is that at the sane age Justin Fields numbers were decidedly better than this kid's. Despite playing with absolute junk on offense.

This is what you cannot quite comprehend that people who understand Football know. Caleb's "numbers" are inflated due to the number of times he passes the ball per game. He has already passed the ball over 400 times in 12 games just to throw 14 TDs.

When you actually "crunch" the numbers further Fields easily trump's this kid despite playing with inferior players and a terrible OC.

Time to throw in the towel as you're already cooked McCarver.

Williams is completing passes at a higher rate than Fields in 2022 though and higher than Fields in 2023 by a slim margin.

The fact that they didn't let Fields throw the ball more is because Fields can't throw.

Fields probably was better in 2022 than Williams will be in 2024 though Williams only needs a few more similar games to the last 2 to change that. However, that is because Fields was an elite runner in 2022 but he's never shown that he can be that good of a runner again even with the Steelers.

By the same logic, 2024 Williams is outplaying 2024 Fields.

It gets tiring to deal with you constantly cherry picking some obscure stat that happens to be something Fields leads in instead of just looking at the whole body of work.

At least QB wins is an understandable comparison that you are simply cherry picking the time period of the last 14 games or whatever it was. This whole "Fields in 2022 threw more touchdowns per pass attempt than Williams in 2024" is just not a good argument.
