Why can’t he speak in complete and coherent sentences? The ups and ups and again and stammering is a sign of some serious issues. He was an average writer turned below average broadcaster and comes across as someone who doesn’t really like sports or care and is just putting in time until he can retire. He must be close to 65. He seems disinterested and appears to like all things Europe and soccer. He really offers nothing interesting or funny or smart. I guess he is willing to get up at 3:00 AM to put in his time and Mitch welcomes that. It doesn’t matter that he is awful. People will listen. The Bears pre and post is even worse. He is completely disconnected and just stammers through. I’m thinking he must have some medical issues. While I find him a terrible communicator, I hope he is ok.

Please tell me you’re not pegging Haugh at 200lbs.

At what weight would you be willing to peg him?

I like him. He has a no frills show that gives you what you need for early drive time. I'm out of the car by the time he has interviews so I don't hear that side.

I did see a youtube of him without his usual hat on. He is almost entirely bald now, with bushy eyebrows. Weird look but we all get old.

Given Bernstein's precipitous decline, the implosion of the afternoon show, and the ascendance of a marginal talent like Marshall Harris, Mully is the best host currently at the station.

While he's clearly suffering from sleep deprivation-induced brain damage, Mully still possesses the faintest traces of a fertile sports mind, which places him several notches above whoever is second best at the station.

This is the only show on the station I can still handle listening to - and it's a challenge most mornings, as Haugh is just the worst. If he's not doing a McDoink-like long sigh before offering a remedial opinion he's tripping down the verbal hill where he feels the only way to right himself is to make a list of words that start with the same letter(s) "I mean, the Bears need to regroup, rethink and reconsider what they're doing". Mully has (d)evolved into that annoying yet somehow likable uncle at the holiday dinner table. He says the same thing over and over again, repeats someone else's thought(s) multiple times or dusts off a "I remember back when..." story from his newspaper days.

It does seem like there is a cognitive decline with him, though - while he's always had laughably long and meandering 'questions' (that never actually result in a question), they seem to have gotten worse and he often starts to throw to break at the wrong time or attempt to tease a segment that's not, in fact, coming up next. They both do their fair share of misspeaking (only outdone by their knuckle dragging moron of a producer), but the volume produced by Mully has certainly increased. Hopefully he's ok and it's just general aging to blame, but he definitely exhibits some troubling signs (odd, open-mouthed, mechanical laugh is specifically something I've noticed a lot more in the past couple of years of tuning in).

Anyway, interesting to see this posted as I've wondered about it myself. Maybe he'll choose to retire and they can drag Hanley's puns back to the morning to pair up with Haugh and their idiot producer? ;) "It's Mully and Hanley, I man Mully and Haugh, errr Hanley and Haugh in the morning..."

That's pretty rough criticism. The fact that he has survived for so long on the Score is a testament to his craft as a broadcaster. I listened to him this morning and didn't detect anything out of the ordinary in his speech. He's generally well spoken and also fair. I used to call in to his show years ago.

Who was the Italian girl that was with him on the show this morning, sitting in for Haugh? Kind of hot!

I love Mully, but I watched the live stream with him one day while eating breakfast and nearly vomited. In a five minute span he picked his nose like four times, blew his nose twice, and then started chewing off his nails and spitting them on the floor. Must be an Irish thing or something.

I listened to the Bears pre-game on Sunday and I heard several times where he does a laugh that sounds like he is gasping for air. Not sure if it is new or just something I’ve never noticed before. It is really hard to listen to.

What in the hell was up with the Chelios segment today at 8:45? It started with Mully rambling on about reading a story in a magazine, at his dentist, where Cindy Crawford talked about going on Chelly's boat while in Chicago? His ramblings seriously went on for 3-4 minutes, they got into something else promoting an event at house of Blues, where Chelios will sing, then finally in the last minute, he gave a quick blurb on new Hawks coach, and the Bears in the final minute of this very bizarre interview. Oddest segment I've heard in a while, and that's saying something.

Just had aother bad session w Chelios, spent half of it plugging some college event at Wrigley Field and only talked about Hawks for a minute or so then switched to the Bears Lions game. What is the point of having Chelios on if he is not going to talk about the Blackhawks, especially after an exciting win. Woould have liked Chelios insight on how he thinks the young d-men Korchinski etc have looked

Hockey is my favorite sport, but I think they should just drop the Chelios segment. Waste of time and money. Mully goes off on tangents and Chelly is just phoning it in. Other than name value he is offering nothing here. Get Troy Murray or someone else on instead.

Dead air would draw more listeners than hockey talk.

Yes, I don't get it, Chelios hardly speaks, and all he really does is react to Mully's "observations". It used to be a much better segment. It must be some contract issue with Bet MGM, and they are forcing Chellios to appear. This segment offers nothing to the listener, other than a lead in to the ridiculous Stacey Dales segment

I too got the impression it was a sponsored segment and also is somehow tied in to getting his daughter a gig w the Hawks. I cant stand her as the color announcer but she is ok as studio host

Mulligan has to be the worst interviewer. He doesn't ask questions as much as he takes 1-2 minute to ramble, give his opinion, and then stop to let the person react.

Also, he is mixing up names/rankings, etc. more than ever. I think he referred to the White Sox catching prospects as the #3 and #9 ranked catchers in the top 100 today (not even sure what he was trying to say). Pretty much every day though, he seems confused about something. Maybe a nice guy, but time to move on.

On MLB top catching prospect list for catchers only, Sox have # 3 and #9 prospects
3.Kyle Teel &
9.Edgar Quero

FYI Cubs have #6-Moises Ballesteros

He is soooo exhausted by the end of the show he ends transition before the end of his scheduled shift. That reason and his obvious hatred of Bernstien. He still has some very good takes but they have to figure out someway to cut his air time to 2 hours max.

yep, Bernstein no-sells everything and Mully is just like fuck it. But transition in afternoons with Spiegel and Holmes are 25 minutes because each need Dan's take (approval)
