 don't forget to add that Fields has been benched and is carrying a clip board in his last few games

Better that he carry it than throw it.

If Caleb would throw every pass a little side-armed he'd be great. I'm visualizing every pass he threw like that and I've calculated his QB Rating as 115 on those throws vs. a QB rating of 60 when he throws it normally. It's just statistical science.

Which just means that Pittsburgh's Backup is decidedly better than the Bears starter. Even more of a reason that Poles should have traded the pick while people still believed that the kid was "Generational"

His wild accuracy on deep passes is a bit concerning, and I'm not sure what the remedy is. I saw him miss Allen and Odunze over the top in the second half when they were nearly wide open. Maybe he's a little gun shy, and you can't really blame a rookie that's the most-sacked QB in the league by far for that, but he's got to tighten up his accuracy and touch on deep throws.

But most importantly, it's clear any progression of his has been stunted by this league-worst offensive line. There's no other way around it. The lack of consistent run blocking means the offense is generally behind schedule and facing 3rd and long more often than not, necessitating deeper routes which require more time pass blocking than the talent of this OL is equipped to provide. Compounding that issue is that because the OLs are so atrocious, the RB and TE need to at least help chip a defender before running a (deeper) route, and more often than not at least one is tasked with assisting in pass blocking for the entire play, if not both, meaning there's a maximum of 3 wideouts trying to run deep routes for first downs. There's a reason Cole Kmet has disappeared statistically, and it's not because Caleb is missing him all that much.

Also, Caleb needs to wear his misses, for sure, but we also have to account for how droppy some of these WRs are, Allen and, perhaps even more alarmingly, Odunze.

There are a couple things you just have to cross your fingers and hope it was a rookie still adjusting to the speed of the game. That's probably the biggest one you just have to hope gets better with a year playing and an off-season to work on it.

During this 8 game losing Streak the Bears have been outscored 120-29 during the first half. But you better not state that Caleb is throwing TDs ONLY during garbage time. Ok. sure buddy. why not?

They also haven’t scored 1 point in the 1st quarter for 3 games and are on pace to set a franchise record for least points scored during that period in a 16 game season.

If you exclude the 2 Bumslaying games, the Bears are avg a mere 9 points during the First 3 Quarters of games this season.

Quote:
Williams is playing at a historic level in one specific area of his game, per Josh Dubow of the Associated Press on X.

“Most consecutive losses for a starting QB w/out throwing an INT in any game since merger: Caleb Williams 8 and counting 2024; Cody Kessler 5 in 2016; Jeff George 5 in 1993-94,” Dubow wrote.

Though it hasn’t looked like it on the surface, his rookie season is a hopeful precursor to why the Bears must prioritize building around Williams.

Quote:
Williams has set Bears rookie records for completions (288), passing yards (2,937), and touchdown passes (17) in 2024, and this train doesn’t appear to be coming to a halt anytime soon.

Quote:
Williams tied an all-time franchise record with Super Bowl champion Jim McMahon.

Following the loss, Williams went another game without an interception, tying McMahon’s record set in 1984 of eight games in a row without being picked off.

Another record Williams looks to break would cause quite a controversy between Bears and Packers fans.

With Williams’ interception-less streak reaching 243 pass attempts, he’s only 159 attempts away from breaking the NFL’s all-time record of passes without being intercepted, set by Aaron Rodgers in 2018.

Rodgers set this record in 2018, leading the league with the lowest interception percentage (0.3%) that season. Through 14 games in 2024, Williams’ interception percentage is 1.1%, nearly triple what Rodgers’ was when he set the record.

And considering Williams’ admiration of Rodgers growing up, it would be quite the feat to overtake his NFL record after being in the league for just one season.

Notice how none of Caleb's "record breaking stats" ever involve points scored, wins, or team rankings on offense?

Someone cannot quite comprehend the definition of the term "Points". Is it any wonder that the Bears are a cluster fuck of a team with a 4-10 record and losers of 8 straight after listening to geniuses such as this dude? Just Asking A Question

They are currently 25th in the league in avg POINTS PER GAME. Even with all of stat padding that Caleb does late in games :

It won't happen because of several factors(mainly involving management egos), but I have to wonder if putting BAGENT in as quarterback is warranted? I think that it would give us all an idea as to how much is WILLIAMS and how much is the shitty personnel that surrounds him? :? :?

Neither is correct. Hell, ppg is wrong even if you give him credit for defensive scores.

It's actually correct
Probably should have stipulated "healthy" games. Fields got knocked out in the first half of one of the games.

In his last 8 healthy games as a Bear, the team avg 25 points (24.5) per game. 196 points in 8 games. Some may have been defensive scores but it could not have been all that many

Don't Discount The Fact That Caleb Scores Meaningless Points In The 4th Quarter, though its Ok to Discount The Fact That Justin Was Hurt and Couldn't Play In The 4th Quarter

Fields was notoriously great in comeback situations, so may as well count the game he left injured as a W.

This will never happen. They would rather go 0-17 next year than give Tyson Bagent a chance and proving Caleb Williams is the problem.

Even if Williams gets hurt I don’t think they’ll ever pass the ball. Ownership/team president mandate.

It's illuminating to know that Justin Fields as a third year player two months from his 25th birthday lead such a commanding offense and generated so many wins. I'm glad that someone is now rightly comparing such a dominant stretch of football to rookie Caleb Williams who just turned 23.
