Isn't most of the SEC kinda fucked?
Uh, Texas is in the SEC…
Uh, can you read?
Like are you saying that because a state like Louisiana is one of the poorer states they can’t compete in the NIL era? Like do you think they are going to Hillbilly Jim in Covington Louisiana and asking him for money? Like is that what you think?
LSU enrolls 40k kids annually, all they need is .0001% of those kids to strike it rich. Doesn’t even factor in the non graduate boosters, people who sent their kids there, etc.
NIL doesn’t work by collecting a nickel here and a dime there, NIL works by getting your richest 50 boosters to throw money at the team. LSU probably more than one booster that owns about 500MM worth of pipeline assets. They will be happy to throw 10 MM at the Tigers football team annually.
Like I said. Every team, EVERY TEAM, thinks they have the most money. They all have the same money. Just like they all had the same money when they built Star Wars practice facilities. LSU is no better or worse off in the NIL era than in any previous era. Louisiana, and South Carolina, and Alabama have been just as poor states in 2025 as they were in 1980. It didn’t matter because they aren’t funding the athletic program based on collecting a quarter from every citizen in the state. Alabama funds its team from probably 40 dudes who have more money that you can imagine that own businesses that you’ve never heard of that probably have a FMV of a billion dollars.
The SEC isn’t fucked, because if being from a poor state was an issue, Alabama wouldn’t have 15 national titles or whatever they have.
