Carroll probably knows he can't see this job all the way through Caleb's rookie contract but if he brings along his replacement, it could work. Warren and George will never hire someone who would tell them to fuck off, and in this way, unbeknownst to him, Carroll is a trojan horse. Get in there, tell Warren how much you like his car, bring your prodigal OC son(I don't know who that is), embiggen the spirit, make below average in game mistakes, collect 10M and walk away with a couple of 9-8 seasons. The OC becomes HC after learning from a guy who won championships at different levels. The caveat here is making sure his replacement isn't a paint licking weirdo, but I think this plan is more likely to work than Vrabel or Johnson.

"win now" being the expectations, not necessarily the requisite talent level of the team, meaning the upstart OC now HC gets maybe 2 seasons to produce results or risk firing and resetting his whole career. It's certainly not an undesirable destination but it's not the resplendent undiscovered country it's made out to be for an OC getting his first gig.

Joe Burrow is currently the best quarterback in the world who has lugged along a Cincinnati team to a Super Bowl once already and he’s going into the prime of his prime. You are out of your mind.
