I started the hire Ben Johnson thing 18 months ago. If Fields had shown capable of being a starting NFL QB during his 3yr audition, it’d have been fine for him to stick around to work with Johnson. He wasn’t so he’s not.

Justin Fields is going to spend the offseason begging bad teams to give him a chance to compete for a starting job at a cheap rate. The Bears could be paying him $40-$45 million a year to be the starting QB when he may not be capable of being a starter anywhere but Cleveland next year.

I would argue that they could cut Williams now and it would be a better situation than having Fields as the future Bears starting QB.
