Shocker! ALL ACCESS has confirmed that longtime CBS Top 40/Rhythmic WBBM-F (B96)/CHICAGO morning duo EDDIE & JO BO are out, as well as co-host ERICA COBB.
B96 PD TODD CAVANAH told ALL ACCESS, "We celebrate EDDIE & JO BO's nearly two decades of great entertainment and service. We will miss them and it's time for B96 to move in a new direction. We are looking at several options and hope to have something to announce sooner than later."
CAVANAH added that he's still accepting packages at cavanat@wbbm-fm.com, and that mornings will be filled on an interim basis by middayer J NIICE thru end of the year, and that weekender REBECCA ORTIZ would handle middays temporarily.

I was just about to post this. It seems like CBS radio is sending all the old timers packing. First Mike North, then Eddie & Jobo, and soon to be Steve "Dead Air" Dahl.

I wonder how long they are going to stay with Dull. Last time I read Feder's column Dahl lost to some church radio.

Too bad for Erica - I know her personally and not like she's the next big thing, but she got caught in the cross fire of two old dudes making too much money.

I predict Steve Dahl will be the next CBS Radio mainstay to be shown the door, dead air and all...

And then we'll find out CBS owns that broadcast school that's shilling on the Score..

Collusion!

(And also getting rid of by-begone talents)

Cost cutting. Big salaries are in grave danger in the radio industry. Mac will find that out soon enough. Egos and business don't mix very well in this economy. Just ask North about this.

Bingo! I bet Tribune is glad that Spike O'Dell is leaving next month as well. They all will try to find cheaper fill-ins.

Colonel, that's what radio & TV stations are doing in an effort to save $$$$. Ray Suarez, the former NBC 5 reporter now with National Public Radio, told a bunch of students & I all the way back in 1991 when Roosevelt University held a journalism camp. He mentioned his former colleague at Channel 5, Charlie Wojochiewski, who came to Chicago from somewhere in Iowa for cheap...

Eddie & JoBo should have been let go 10 years ago.. I remember hearing them when I was in highschool and there act was the same now which for 40+ year olds doesnt really reach the target demo of B96. Not a shocking surprise and they sucked anyhow! :)

Factually speaking, B96.3 did fire Eddie & JoBo about 15 years ago. It had to do with a bit in which they jokingly linked former NBC 5 news anchor Joan Esposito and a Bulls' player...Joan sued Eddie & JoBo, but even though they settled the suit out of court, it didn't stop the two from talking about the settlement. B96.3 re-hired Eddie & JoBo a few years after they were fired in the mid '90s when the guys the CBS Radio-owned dance station hired from Philadelphia were not received well at all. Unfortunately, the names escape me, but the initial replacements didn't last that long...

It was Horace Grant, and it was true. She had his baby. That's why she doesn't do the news anymore.

Was it TJ and Wild Bill? I remember listening to them back in my B96 days.

Curious Hair, thanks...It was TJ & Wild Bill, and they joined B96.3 after Eddie & JoBo were fired in 1994 as a result of the Joan Esposito/Bulls' settlement they were NOT supposed to talk about. TJ & Wild Bill didn't last very long...

I have to agree with this Angus. She won a huge settlement over this lie.

I think Joan is probably just living the easy life with a fat bank roll.

And she doesn't have to buy food; she is probably still able to feed off her collagen-inflated lips

That's a very beautiful photo of Joan Esposito, who I really liked when she anchored the news here. If I'm not mistaken, NBC 5 bosses wanted to cut her salary before she left the station about 4 years or so ago...

Her first NBC5 contract paid her a million a year working 4 hours a day. NBC5 said it was too much for her second contract so they offered a 1/2 million for 4 hours a day. She said no & she walked. she hasn't made $500,000 a year since. And she used to be married to Tommy Shaw of Styx. End Of Story.
