 Agreed

Sorry to hear, RFDC. Seems like your MIL is in a better place as things were deteriorating for a while. I'm sure there was great peace of mind to your wife and kids to know that whatever she was going through, she had a man in her corner and that would seemingly do anything to take care of her. I hope FIL stays close with you all, including his great grandkids.

Thanks for everyones thoughts. Appreciate them.

Due to some issues from the weather around we have had to delay having the service until Saturday. So in the meantime we are just hanging out here at the house with him. The Disney Sisternlaw has made it in. So far they have been able to play nice.

Got a pretty good snow last night. He has a big covered cab tractor snow blower. It is a pretty cool machine. He took me outside today to show me how to use it and wanted me to clear off the drive way. First pass and I broke some pin on it. Thankfully he was all good with it and did not kill me. He showed me how to fix the pin and said it just gave us more time to be away from all the females and doing man stuff.

Sorry to hear it, best wishes to you and your family.

Not for nuthin, but there may be some cathartic (and storytelling) benefit from letting him off the leash a little this weekend with the SIL.

The card collecting BIL died of a heart attack awhile back.

The autistic son will be fine because FIL knows nothing that happens with him is really his fault but the parents fault.

The ones who will be in his line of fire will be the sisters. The disney sister and him had their first minor squabble today. He was saying that his wife had all kinds of old disney vhs movies in one of the back closets. He told her to get her ass up and take any of them she could get any money for and sell them and she could have whatever she made. She replied that she was sure nothing back there was really worth anything. He said well of course you would rather sit around and whine and cry about money than actually do anything to make money. To her credit she just got up and did not engage with him.

He got in an argument yesterday with an old friend of his on the phone. I am not sure what the friend said, but he got an earful and the phone call ended with FIL saying "well fuck you motherfucker we are done" and hung up on him.

Those Disney VHS tapes are worth nothing. They sell for like $1 at Goodwill.

I mean, no wonder you love him. It's like having Bobby Knight as your FIL. Gotta wear an ass cup because you'll never know when that foot is heading your way. You broke that pin in the tractor and your sphincter instantly tightened up, didn't it?

It's a cool game. 95% of the time you suck up to him, but you're also looking for that 5% where you can reasonably differ to get respect.

She does food deliveries through door dash. Which in FILs world is not a job at all.

Oh without a doubt. He is an intimidating man.

It has been a while since I have been on the end of one of his tirades. And hopefully we can keep it that way.

This thread is fire.

RFDC, will he enjoy the Indiana-Purdue game with you Sunday? Your FIL sounds like he would've appreciated both Knight and Keady.

He may watch it with me, but he is not a sports guy at all.

Everyone arrived last night. We had our first minor dust up...

Disney Sister started in on some cabinet that mom supposedly told her she could have. FIL said Mom never told me anything about that. She went on about it. I thought to myself, here we go!!! FIL said, "Listen, and get this through your fat head, NOTHING is leaving this house until I die so you can shut your trap right now... I am the husband and everything that was hers is mine!" For maybe the first time in her life she did the smart thing and disengaged and left the room without saying anything.

The oldest sister decided to not stay here at the house and got herself a hotel room. So she stayed out of his way and that was a really smart move on her part.

FIL is not a big drinker at all, but he went and got some beer and him, myself and my son-n-laws kept him busy playing pool and listening to him tell stories.

Service is this afternoon. Then he has arranged a nice dinner at a country club where he knows the owner.

His stories are something. And they are all over the place. Some Vietnam ones. Some Steel Mill ones. Some growing up in Gary/Miller ones. Then he will randomly start taking shots at one of the sisters or other family members that he has had issues with. His favorite right now is a cousin that lives down the road from him and he decided to get solar panels a few months ago and then decided to send the salesman to him to try and sell him on them. He loves to tell how he sent that salesman off from his door and then proceeded to call his idiot cousin and tell him to fuck off and take his cheap ass solar panels with him
