You originally implied that it was virtually "nonexistent". Which would be false

I do think that my statement of Pittsburgh being fine with saying goodbye and giving a shitty offer can be congruous.

Why would he ever be in danger of being cut ? He’s gonna be great and ball out now that he’s the unquestioned starter and all that ability that other teams have just not taken advantage of ( including his handpicked last team ) is just gonna ooze out and Josh Allen look out !!! there’s a new sheriff in town!!!

This is why most of the sports thoughts around here are considered rather inane. Pittsburgh ACTUALLY did want to sign Justin Fields. Which means that they did WANT TO CONTINUE THE RELATIONSHIP. Instead of "obsessing" over whether someone is "obsessing" over this, just simply tell the truth and move on. Why is the truth around here so damn difficult to accept? Just Asking A Question

https://www.si.com/nfl/how-jets-trumped ... tin-fields

Well they didn't make him much of a starting qb offer then. Sounds like they weren't too bummed about getting beat out on their "offer".

Hey dude you just lied and claimed that they didn't want to "continue the relationship. Again why is the truth so difficult to accept?

And again if you don't care about this, then why have you been "chiming" in for the better part of a year? Just Asking Questions

Ain't a lie.
I've bid jobs I don't want. It's in the price.
I've made job offers to guys i don't want. It shows up in the hourly (usually that's union scale which nobody wants to work for).
What was Pittsburghs offer is my question. All the article specified was that there was no guaranteed money. Sounds like an offer you might make that you don't expect to be accepted.

Without delving too deep into your occupational "ethos" I'll just say that I doubt very seriously if it has anything to do with why Pittsburgh made a contract offer to Justin Fields to be their starting QB this past weekend.

And anyone that knows sports knows that when teams do not want to "continue the relationship" with guys that are free agents, they do not offer them a contract. Particularly one the size of the one tendered to Fields.
And there was actually guaranteed money on the table for him by the way

The Steelers made an offer to Fields to return to the roster. That doesn't mean they made an offer "to be their starting QB".

Yes it does. We know it isn't exactly "fashionable" around these parts to admit this, but it was clear from all involved that they were hoping that he'd resign to be their starting QB

Not as long as Caleb Williams is still on the Bears while being the holder of some of the worst stats of the Century.

Face it dude you are failing at every turn. Perhaps you will do better on your "fairly quickly" prognostication this season than you happen to do last season

I wouldn't say "hoping". They offered him a contract to return to the roster and probably would have rolled with him if no other options emerged. He got a better offer elsewhere. I like the kid and hope he does well, but the fucking Jets? He would be better off anywhere else. Even as a backup.

Tomlin shitted on him. Offensive Coordinator wanted Fields to start. So did most of the players. Tomlin disregarded all of that in order to stick with washed up Russ.

They weren't going to pay the kid that type of money in order to be a backup. Particularly when they didn't have a cheaper option already on the roster. And I'm not one who gets caught up in the whole "franchise sucks" so why would anyone want to go there mantra. Players make franchises. Franchises don't make players. A few years ago who'd have ever believed that places like Detroit or Buffalo would be "destination spots"? He has a legitimate No. 1 receiver who he is familiar with. Solid backs and a decent Oline. They upgrade the No. 2 receiver and it really gets interesting.
Glenn is unproven as a head coach. Which is a bit concerning but otherwise there are quite a few things there to be optimistic about. And regardless. This is the place he chose to play. In theory it should be because he believed that it was the best place for him to get paid, start and be successful. Now it's on him. Either he sinks or he swims.

All of the coaches who "trusted" Caleb to throw because they knew that he could were also fired and blamed for his inability to throw.

Apparently neither do you "lurker"

And just for the record I have him to be "better" than the "Generational" one next season too. And "fairly quickly" at that.

Brick you don't even know how to evaluate stats. Which makes it rather stupid for you to constantly make stats the gist of your argument.

I will simply trust what I see on the field unless you place conditions on what the stats happen to be.

You pick the statistical categories that you believe are relevant and maybe I will think about it. Otherwise stats are meaningless. For instance, last season you consistently touted Caleb's stats when his stats clearly demonstrated that he was one of the worst QBs in the league. I'm not having another year of those useless discussions.

You don't want to do it. I get it. I'll still create the thread some time after the draft. If you are scared of setting a standard for next year instead of the constantly evolving criteria you used then that's on you.

You could have done the honest thing for once and admitted that you lied about the "bad at picking stats" comment.

I may have misunderstood you. I posted the quote on why I thought that way. So you think I'm good at picking stats? Cool. Let's pick some stats after the draft.

I may have misunderstood. For that I apologize. Can you confirm you actually think I'm good at picking stats? Only then can I truly apologize for thinking you thought I was bad at something but actually you think I'm good at something.

I said that you are terrible at evaluating stats. And I asked you to explain what "bad at picking stats" happens to mean and you failed to answer. Even when it happened to be YOUR statement initially.
