I don't think you have to pay big money to get someone with any personality. I would rather listen to a construction worker's podcast than the other people currently on the Score.

It is ok to hate him, be glad he is gone, but there is no doubt he was great. He had his own self assured style and brought strong opinions to the airwaves.

I'm not glad he's gone and I think it was dumb to fire him over this. But for all the times he tried to get people fired or reacted gleefully when they were, well, what goes around comes around. Very difficult to feel sympathy for him.

I found him smug and obnoxious back when he HAD to really lay on THE SCOOOOORE when closing out a report in his early days, grew to enjoy his brand of humor when paired so well with Boers then grew increasingly tired of his schtick toward the end of B&B and especially once Terry rode Larry Horse off into the sunset. He took great pride in being different/smarter/above the everyman meatball that so many of the other hosts catered to early on, and carried that right on through partner after partner....not saying I need to hear Joe from Villa Park stumble through another bad Bears take to enjoy my sports talk radio, but Dan certainly helped me learn that I didn't care to be preached to/told how to think on a daily basis either.

As his slobbering fanboys often say "Dan wins again", as he always had a show to seal himself into and speak his own echo chamber with nary a dissenting voice, so part of me is pretty ok with him taking an L here.

My favorite host of all time.

He was excellent at his peak, then he was very bad, then unlistenable, then settled into being uninterested & mediocre in the service of cashing checks. It’s the American dream.

That he was done in by accusations of pesca muerte is wildly hilarious and I think something he’ll someday appreciate.

Hope they do. Then when THAT show inevitably fails ( because Goff does indeed, suck) maybe this whole " Goff is great , they fucked him and never gave him a chance " bullshit narrative will end. He's the Justin Fields of the airwaves.

Dan still brought it when it came to the beloved. Yeah he’s declined, but he understood our Bears more than anyone. We lost our best voice.

Perfectly stated.

Bernstein was probably the best Sunday morning host back when that was his first chance to get air time besides doing beat reporting. He was amusing for things like his fondness for Ivan Calderon, he hadn't gotten into analytics yet, and he was never going to get away with his social justice thoughts at 9am on a Sunday.

Well Dick Kay is dead, so they can probably make room for him at WCPT with Patti Vazquez and Edwin Eisendrath.

It'll be hard for Bernstein to find shelter from pittmike emails for awhile, probably best to lay low

Yes, though I place it third behind Monsters and HFC.

This weekend I think I'll pop a couple tops and listen to some classic Friday Fungs, WYCs and maybe a Who's Your Guy or Mike in Milwaukee or two. There's no denying that Dan helped take an already promising model in this city and kicked it into a higher gear.

The really disappointing part is that what made him so great in those days seemed to leave him so quickly, and perhaps even more maddening was that he never seemed all that interested in trying to find it again, and at times he seemed gleeful to not be that guy anymore.

Bernsey died in 2011 with his nonstop Penn State ranting. His gravitation to wokeness and not being funny anymore was unfortunate. His far left politics that infiltrated too much of his shows alienated a lot of people. He was great for a few years but he jumped the shark. He went from funny asshole to jaded insufferable cnt. I wish him nothing good for him. He's a major part of the problem in this country.
