You’re way ahead of me.

And minor quibble…I like them going DL, but I think pass rush is a bigger problem. Dexter and Jarrett should be solid up front. They have nobody to help Sweat.

Yes. I’d like a little more heft up front but I guess they did ok. They got the OT and DT I was hoping for after yesterday and they added an extra WR. I’m not unhappy anymore.

They signed a guy from Indy to help out at DE. But I agree they need more there. Maybe the next pick will be a DE.

Allen might feel like A.Booker is as good a prospect as these guys in the second round. Probably see them go RB,DE,S next?

That goes to the Loveland pick and the diminishing returns of later round picks.

Could’ve had a first round talent in the…um, first round. Now they’ll get a project at best and a tight end (who’s a project).

Side note…

I look up and goodell is literally hiding behind the troops on stage, which is the perfect metaphor. If I knew how to embed a picture I would.

I didnt like the value of that trade. Move down 15 to move up only 10 later with a 4th being the payoff?

A few picks later someone paid a 4th just to move up 4 spots. Edit: looks like draft pick value charts agree with me

LTG wasn’t entirely wrong about Caleb, and I want to acknowledge that. While I’m still confident Fields wouldn’t have been the long-term answer, the Bears would have been a playoff team with him at quarterback last year. Caleb wasn’t ready. Not because he isn’t wildly talented—but because he’s too immature. Kmet, Keenan, Swift, Thomas Brown, and others either directly or indirectly told us that. He was present in the building and working, but he wasn’t doing the right work.

His final totals look fine for a rookie, but nothing about the eye test said “elite,” outside of a few late-game moments. I’m reminded that (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky also had some big late game moments. I still believe in Caleb, but this is a HUGE year. No excuses. He has the talent around him and an excellent offensive coach.

I didn’t love the Ben Johnson hire initially, but I’m on board now. His track record is solid, and he’s got that necessary fire in his eyes. He’s a bullshitter who loves the sound of his own voice—but I’ll tolerate that if he delivers a top 5–10 offense. Despite a tough schedule, he believes we can be a playoff team next season. That directly contradicts the narrative that this roster lacks talent because Poles “sucks.” It also raises the bar on his rookie season.

I didn’t like the Loveland pick, but Ben Johnson deserves the benefit of the doubt. Poles looked like a hostage during the press conference last night, so I’m guessing he didn’t love the pick either. Banks was his guy, and I’m glad Banks wasn’t available—because Banks is soft and should probably be a guard.

I thought Will Johnson was the best player in this draft and wanted him or Pearce at 10. Naturally, Will Johnson is still on the board.

Day 2/3 picks:

I really like Ersery, Ezeiruaku, Scourton, and Chase Lundt for our line. I’d be happy with 1 or 2 of them. Outside of an edge rusher, I think both lines are good.

Will Johnson is a lockdown corner who eliminates the need to rely on Stevenson. Stevenson could be transitioned to safety—either as a backup or a future replacement for CTE Brisker or Byard.

Swift can’t be your featured back. A featured back needs vision. I can’t keep watching him ignore holes and run straight into his own linemen 20 times a game. The Bears should draft Henderson, Brashard Smith, Jarquez Hunter, DJ Giddens, or RJ Harvey. I’d slit my wrist if they drafted Skattebo.

I hope all is well. I'll pop back in during the season.

Go Bears!!!

They murdered our boy George Santos and this is what brings you back? Sports?

My guess: both osu backs were unexpectedly gone so they quickly moved to quantity mode

The draft wonks seem to like their work.

What do you mean by they "moved to quantity mode"? They didn't acquire additional picks in the trade.

I don’t know how Ryan Poles looks at last year and thinks the problem was a lack of talented players out there to catch the ball. Maybe they are tired of DJ Moore’s antics and will look to move him over the summer? That would be a bold move, he’s their only elite player on either side of the ball.

The success rate on left tackles drafted outside the top fifty is pretty dreadful, and its not a great sign when the Packers (who are quite good at that position) passed on the guy two picks before the Bears took him. It will be nice to have someone other than Larry Borom getting the snaps when something on Braxton Jones breaks. This just felt like a “ticking the box” pick and not somebody the Bears really wanted.

Looking over the CBS draft tracker for day 3. For the Bears it has listed as a Kicker as one of their needs? What the hell is this? If we draft another dude who kicks the ball this year I am going to lose my shit.

Well I guess this is true and kinda contradicts my point. It’s not really that the Bears are particularly talented at pass catcher, its just that they have spent a huge amount of resources on pass catchers who aren’t very good (Cole Kmet, Chase Claypool, Rome Odunze, Keenan Allen).

One that can kick 50 yarders or more, a specialist.

They've also invested a huge amount of draft picks in quarterbacks who aren't very good ((Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, Fields, Williams--for now at least).

Since 2017 the resources poured into wide receiver and quarterback are staggering and the team success after 2018 indicates its not the right way to do it. But Poles isn’t gonna stop, that much is clear.
