To me the Bears are NOT a contender, they're a pretender.
Granted they beat the Rams, but WHO HASN'T? And don't give me the Cowboys, as they were playing with their backup QB and thought they could show up and win.
The victory was nice, as the Bears haven't looked good against the Packers and Titans.
Now they may luck out and get to face Minnesota without their big fatty DTs (The Williams 'Brothers').
Then they get Jacksonville coming up into the cold, possibly without crackhead Matt Jones.
..and then of course they get the dome team Saints coming up here for another ass whooping.
..and the Pack - which is too hard to predict right now, and close things out against Houston, who (contrary to popular belief) are not patsies.
I thought they Bears would be 5-11 or 6-10 depending upon injuries, as that can change anything. After the victory in Week One, I moved that prediction to 6-10 or 7-9.
I think they'll be fortunate to be .500 this year. Given the number of star players from the opposition that have missed the game against the Bears - I don't think that's acceptable because of the money paid to these defensive stiffs - despite my thoughts coming into the season.
I'd rather see them eat some humble pie and make wholesale changes to the coaching staff (the D-Line Coach, D-Coordinator and WR Coach should be fired immediately), get rid of some of these overpaid stiffs on defense and offense (that won't kill their cap) vs. see them go 9-7, sneak into the playoffs and then get their doors blown off in Round One.
So, your prediction was wrong, they are better than you thought, and you're still unhappy?
I'm pleasantly surprised by the O-line, Matt Forte and Kyle Orton.
I loathe Brad Maynard's existance.
The defense sucks in a major way.
I'm not happy whatsoever. I want a Super Bowl contender. This team is not a Super Bowl, nor NFC Championship Game contender.
I have more enjoyment watching the Cardinals and Falcons than these overpaid unhappy players on defense.
You also don't trust Jerry Angelo to make a high pick, and if they were bad (not in the playoff race), you'd still have the same list of issues.
Enjoy. Hope they make the playoffs.
