I think it is a good gamble for the Browns. They suck. It is their last pick in this draft. Roll the dice. Maybe he ends up good. If not, it was a 5th round pick.

The pick itself is fine. They drafted a QB in the third round though.

Can he go back to college somewhere else and grow up?

UFL. And it’s not as crazy as you’d think. I thought it was impossible for him to go undrafted but now I’m not so sure.

Procedurally, they are going to have to expose one of their two drafted qb to get him on the practice squad, unless they roster 3 qb on game day or cut all the vets.

That will give the qb a chance to sign with anyone.

Of course it was the Browns taking their second quarterback of the draft.

If you don’t have a quarterback, you better do whatever possible to get one.

Gabriel is going to suck. Shanders should overtake him pretty quickly, but both are probably worse than Flacco.

Either way I like the pick. If he has half the balls he pretends to have, he’ll be playing with the largest chip in history on his shoulder. A guy with that ego publicly humiliated that badly?

Did Sanders say he didn't want to be on one of the bad teams?

No choice. Good teams have a good QB. College QBs have to go to bad teams.

I would have agreed if it were the second or third round but at this point he is being deliberately humiliated by the league. There’s no spinning this one as a positive, he fell past Dillon Gabriel.

I am not sure how a league that drafts people of horrible character on yearly basis draws the line at Sanders?

Because guys like Jalen Carter are actually good.

I thought the Cowboys might take him in the 4th as a favor to his father.

You keep Flacco and the 2 rookies.

I really don't understand how Dillon Gabriel: 1. went in the third round; and, 2. went before Sanders.

But this is crazy talk that the league wanted to humble Sanders. There is no more independent moment for the franchises than the draft. They do not act in unison, even though the market that forms may look that way. No one thinks they acted as one on Green or Bond or even Burden for that matter.

Also, Will Howard, Riley Leonard and Grant Mertz all seemed like UDFA level talents. I'm surprised any were drafted. Alternatively, Mc Cord seemed like he could play. I would have put him in the third round range.

It was a terrible draft for QB and Sanders didn't get picked until the fifth. His talent never struck me as high first round, but the QB market is always inefficient. I thought even in his highlights that he was getting lucky with bad throws.

The slide was self perpetuating and probably would’ve gone on a lot longer had Cleveland not jumped in the way they did. I think there was some assumption Pittsburgh would take him so when they passed on him in the third it freaked everyone out. “What does Mike Tomlin know that we don’t?” type deal.

For most teams he and the circus that surrounds him introduces more problems than it solves. It’s obvious from his interviews that he’s not even dropping the persona behind closed doors. It’s the kind of thing where if you’re not going to take him very early to be The Man and fully embraced incumbent starter day one then you just would rather not deal with it.

I wonder if this was a factor for some teams as well. Maybe the thought of negotiating with Deion was a big turn off.

In this new Justin Fields era of “ the reason quarterbacks who were good in college aren’t good in the pros is because everyone around them is failing them not because they’re just not any fucking good” cope and having that idiot Deion Sanders questioning everything the professional coaches are doing when his progeny inevitably shits the bed because it can’t be his fault why would you want to deal with that at all as an organization?

I think Howard is the best quarterback in the draft.

Boomer said on his radio show at least 3 team owners told their front office to take him off the draft board.

Quote:
Former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was viewed as one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, and many experts believed he would be selected in the first round. However, the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders fell all the way to the fifth round before he was scooped up by the Cleveland Browns with the No. 144 overall pick.

Sanders' draft slide surprised everyone -- one fan so much that he is suing the NFL for $100 million in punitive damages, "for the harm caused to the Plaintiff and the impact of the NFL's actions on his emotional well being," according to court documents, via MSNBC.

In the lawsuit, "John Doe" says he's a dedicated fan of the Colorado Buffaloes, and that he closely followed Sanders over the past two college football seasons. The Plaintiff claims that the reports and "leaked statements" suggesting that Sanders "tanked interviews," "wasn't prepared" and "was too cocky" in the pre-draft process helped create a narrative that "unjustly harmed" his reputation. These "slanderous statements" caused "emotional distress and trauma to the Plaintiff as a fan and consumer."

The Plaintiff alleged several claims against the NFL: The Violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act (collusion among NFL teams), Violation of the Civil Rights Act, Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress and Trauma and Violations of Consumer Protection Laws.

In addition to $100 million, the Plaintiff requests:

A formal acknowledgment from the NFL regarding the emotional distress caused by their actions and statements.
A retraction of the slanderous statements made about Shedeur Sanders, along with an apology for any harm caused to his reputation.
Implementation of fairer practices in the drafting process to ensure that talented players are recognized and given opportunities based on merit.
Any additional remedies the Court deems appropriate, including compensatory damages.
Sanders' slide, according to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones, was a reflection of how he carried himself through the pre-draft process, but this fan clearly believes there's more to the story. Sanders' fall caused the Plaintiff "frustration, disappointment and psychological harm as a fan," which are feelings most sports fans can probably relate to.
