It's a great time to be racist Cub fan as I don't think they have a single balck on the 40 man roster, just some Dominicans and the 2 Japanese.

Imagine being this angry about someone who has essentially been out of baseball for two years.

Did he say something mean about Ron Santo 20 years ago too?

I do remember the days before the steroid era when 30 was the very common brick wall for careers. That is Tim's career.

He seemed to literally wake up one day and couldn't hit. I don't know how you explain it. It's a remarkable story. Anyways, his ABs were a joy. When he was hot, it was really something. Wouldn't even hit a foul ball. Just ropes.

A lot of people, including me, tied his decline to his domestic issues, but after a couple of years it has to be more than that.

That's the White Sox franchise right there. Get some positive national vibes going--and fall off and disappear immediately.

See: Harry and Jimmy, the new stadium, letting Fisk go, 1994, 2013, 2016, 2024...

This was the peak of the White Sox rebuild.

No owner has ever done less with more than Jerry Reinsdorf. If he kicks the bucket tomorrow, it wouldn't be soon enough.

baseball is so strange. At that corn game it looked like the Sox led by TA were going to be a problem for a long time

Kris Bryant and TA are two of the biggest head scratchers. You just never know.

As bad as he is, The Worst, look how lucky he got. He inherited Michael Jordan and had a fluke baseball year.

Isn't Kris Bryant's back a mess? Along with other injuries. I'm not making the LTG Embiid argument, but it's more definitive than Anderson just waking up one morning and completely forgetting how to hit.

True. TAs is definitely more unique. But I think Bryants struggles started before his back/injuries issues. But my memory maybe off too.

Bryant got plunked in the head too, right? But he also won an MVP and a ring. As good as Anderson was for a time, he never even come close to an MVP caliber player.

Because he wasn't picky at what he swung at and a poor SS. The guy hit ropes at a clip I hadn't seen other than Fat Frank. Hitting .335 without the benefit of a good eye is IMO, pretty remarkable. It's hitting great with a huge handicap.

I believe the stat heads who follow this crap said that Jackie’s BABBIP was unsustainable and his 4 years of hitting well was an anomaly.

Well, they’re nerds who need to find a locker to sleep in. Guy could rake.

Eye test for the hetero: TA was a great hitter.

An anomaly for baseball is a good month. 4 years is a good chunk of most careers

Great hitter? Four years above .300. Never hit more than 20 HRs in a season. Two years above 80 rbis. More like most overrated hitter in the last ten years.

You're right, no team wants it's starting shortstop to win the batting title.

Reading is a skill. He was called a "great hitter". He's not. Had 3 or 4 really good years.

What’s the argument that he wasn’t a great hitter?

That he wasn’t great for some arbitrary number of seasons and was only great for half a decade?
