They got a new Radio Consulting Company http://www.foxrockcommunications.com/
DAVE BAUM - Senior Vice President & Director of News/Talk Services
While Dave lately would like to be known as an amazing banjo player, he is a radio legend. Dave Baum doesn't just have a resume: He has a pedigree. His top-rated shows have been heard on WIND, WBBM, WSCR 670 in Chicago, KMOX radio in St. Louis & WMAQ-TV (NBC) & WFLD-TV in Chicago. Dave has spent four decades reporting and interpreting issues-based news and sports events to his radio and TV audiences. He is the founder of the Dave Baum Media Training Group, providing his clients with Media Spokesman Training, Crisis communications, Issues Strategy, and Presentation Skills Enhancement. Dave's skill at asking questions and digging into stories has lead to numerous awards, including a prestigious Peter Lisagor award. Have Dave help you take your talk station to the next level.
BOB DAYTON - The Voice
Whether you call him Bob Dayton, or Bill Harper, or by his other nickname, Bubba, Bob Dayton is a voice you'll recognize over and over again. He's happy to point out that he's not the Bob Dayton of WABC infamy (ask him the story about Gary Owens calling him thinking he was the OTHER Bob Dayton). His illustrious career in Chicago alone spans over 35 years at WJJD, WMAQ, WBBM, WSCR 670 & WGN. He also logged stops in Minneapolis - Paul, Memphis, and is currently the featured voice of WPOC FM in Baltimore.
MATT SMITH - President & CEO
Matt is a radio soldier, bringing decades of experience to FoxRock. A former Senior Director of Affiliate Relations for Syndication Networks and Affiliate Relations Director for Matrix Media, Matt brings a wealth of experience in programming as Program Director of a suburban Chicago station and having worked with Formula One Auto Racing, Chicago Bears, White Sox, Bulls, WMAQ, WSBC, & WSCR 670 in Chicago, The Schaumburg Flyers Baseball Team, and the Pro Football Weekly Radio Network. He's worked with such radio luminaries as Tim McCarver, Chet Coppock, Hub Arkush, Ron Kittle, Wayne Allyn Root, Randy White, Stacy Keach, Scott Ferrall, and many others.

I got an instant headache after looking at all the multi-colored, over-sized, bolded fonts on their home page. The screwed up paragraph indentations on the team members page looks like the work of a sixth grader.

Ironic that a new group posing as media "consultants" would launch with an amateurish layout . . . not to mention the numerous grammatical errors and the search box in the upper left that has nothing to do with the site.

Take it easy. Matt Smith has posted here in the past defending Hub and the Pro Football Weekly sydicated show.

Always liked Baum, so I will tell them to get a better website that works.

First off, not that anyone cares, but I'm back.

Secondly, you guys are right that the website isn't at all what I would like it to be, but it is what it is for now. I defend the mistakes on the page as much as I am humbled by the nice things that people have said to Dave, Bubba Dayton, and I.

I'll let you guys in why the website is not up to snuff yet. First off, we're a startup company, meaning NO MONEY. The website is based on a Microsoft Office Online template. It's text heavy on purpose, but there are design flaws for sure. I've worked my ass off to fix those margins, but it's very difficult. As more money comes in, a great deal of it will be allocated to a better website. Unless one of you guys wants to donate their skill to creating a better one for me, it's staying put for now. The overall comments I've been getting are positive, but the comments I read here are valid too.

Next, Baum is very much alive. He owns a consulting service to help business executives be more media savvy and is making quite a living from it. While Dave is not quite the cutting edge sports talk host that everyone in this room seems to like, he's a hell of an interviewer and an even better teacher. He can help any aspiring host go to another level. The biggest thing that Dave is teaching our on air clients is to simply be themselves, not be another Dave Baum.

As far as my defending Hub Arkush and Pro Football Weekly, I did when it was appropriate. Hub personally is a great guy and is my son's unofficial Godfather. While I know he rubs people the wrong way sometimes, he's no different than any other sports talk host: he'll piss you off. There are guys on in Chicago and in other markets that I think are unlistenable for some of the same reasons that are given on this board for bashing Hub. It's really as simple as that. As for PFW, I worked on that show for over ten years as it went from the 30 minute, "Pro Football This Week" to the one hour show that it is now. When I was overseeing the program, we had it on nearly 300 stations. PFW is very much loved in almost every other market outside of Chicago. I won't pretend to truly understand the venom spewed towards Hub or the show on this board or the others that I have read. I just enjoyed the time I spent working on it, and I'm very proud of that show.

So, I'm happy to take volunteers to help me with the FoxRock website. The clients that we have now are happy with the help we're giving them, and I'm happy that their checks don't bounce. The bottom line is that for now it works, but I do want to make it better. I'm around all the time on email if you want to comment. matt@foxrockcommunications.com
